Droid-Bluetooth file transfer??? Paired but not connected?
Why does the phone say PAIRED BUT NOT CONNECTED??? How do i connect it to the other phone. To be more specific the other phone is the ERIS. So is it even possible to send songs, pics, etc to other phones from the DROID? And can the ERIS even accept bluetooth file transfers?

File transfers as in what?
There have been a few discussions about this in recent days. Let me see if I can correctly sum it up. (Someone else will jump in if I missed.)
Bluetooth only supports ad2p profiles for headsets, music, and sharing of contacts and pictures. This is limited by VZ. Until the phone is rooted, there is absolutely no way around this. You cannot send files other than contacts and pictures via bluetooth.
It sucks... I know. I am in the same boat. I am [im]patiently waiting for the droid to be rooted so I can use bluetooth to share files between two droids.

There's an app called "Bluetooth File Transfer" in the market.
I used to use it to transfer stuff to my computer from the phone, but I don't really need it anymore so I took it out. You might find it useful though.

I installed that app and tried to send a ringtone to my cousin's G1 and it was a no go as fadelight said. It sucks that your only limited to contacts and pictures....
Device(s): Droid X, Leaked 2.2.
Xoom with 70 apps that work.

It may not want you sending items you pay for to another phone. Can you send an mp3?

It would be easier to just use astro and email it.but for bluetooth, Paired but not connected is normal. I think it is not considered 'connected' until you actually transfer something

Sorry for the ? but I'm new to this--just got my Android 2.0 phone three days ago and having same problem. Friend is trying to BT me some ringtones, which she got free from the web so that's not an issue, and I too get paired not connected. I'd already figured that paired meant we linkes as I got the 'invite' and enterd the password no problem and figured it would go to connected once the transfer starts, but it alwasys comes up failed on her end. So my question--What do you mean by root/rooted? And if VZ is somehow blocking transferring why does it allow you to even pair? Is there ANYTHING that can be done with the bluetooth as far as files go then? Thx!

I have been trying to get my Droid to send pics to my wife Eris. I have had no luck. It seems to be something with the Eris. If you go and try to share a pic with the Eris it doesn't give the option for Bluetooth transfer. Hope the new up date for the Eris that is rolling out may fix it. Or even when the upgrade to 2.0 will cure it.

You can pair to your bluetooth headset or to your laptop/desktop computer. I have it paired to 2 different bluetooth headsets and to my laptop computer so that I can transfer files between the Droid and the computer via bluetooth, although USB is a lot faster.

I have the new Droid phone. Have you had luck with any other phone (outside the Eris, that is)?
Thx! I did a search online, but the answers I see contradict themselves so I'm not sure what to think at this point!

The only other phone I tried it on was my old motor 755. And it worked flawlessly. Some else told me the used it and it worked with the HTC touch pro 2.

I think that was me in the other thread, to clarify it was the Touch Pro not the Touch Pro 2. I can send files without issue to the Touch Pro from the Droid but what I have found is that it is some what hit or miss when sending files to the Droid from the Touch Pro. Pictures always work, .mp3s about 75% of the time and any other file type is pretty random. Seems to work just fine when paired to my computer tho both sending to the Droid and the reverse.
Looking, as I guess most of you are, for an easy way to BT songs, videos, etc to another BT phone from a Moto Droid. Haven't found one yet.
If you do, please post, it would be most helpful.

Did you read my above post??? The marketplace app called "Bluetooth File Transfer" allows you to do all of this. I have been Transferring every type of file in the book(songs vids, etc.), with no issues at all.

Transferring from what kind of device to what kind of device?
I can't transfer my contacts from a Voyager to the Droid. I got the Bluetooth file transfer app, and I can access all my pictures from the droid, but every time I try to send from the Voyager to the Droid, it says "check bluetooth status of receiving device". I can send from the Droid, but not receive.
I BT transfer any type of file from my Moto Droid, to my Samsung Omnia(winmo), without any problems at all. Once the two devices are sucessfully paired (passcode # entered), use the "Bluetooth Transfer" app instead of the android os default send via "bluetooth" to transfer any type of file u choose. I download music on on my droid and BT send them straight to my Omnia daily.
Thanks for the help, but I have no problem sending files FROM the droid. But I can't send any files from my Voyager TO the Droid. They are connected, and I can retrieve the pics on the Voager from the Driod, but that's it.
I have never used a Voyoger, but I'm sure the snag has to with the way you are trying to send it from that phone. My Droid seamlessly accepts whatever type of crazy files I send from my Omnia, and automatically stores it in "Downloads", and "Bluetooth" on the SD card.

Have a look for an app called Androbex - that works a treat for me, transferring files, contacts etc to & from my Netbook. Another good one is Bluetooth File Transfer by Medievel Software. Both work on standard G1's

I have Bluetooth file transfer working between my computer and DROID as well.
Any apk or small file that download of the forums.....that's how I get it into the phone.
See something as I browse the forum on my laptop....download it onto my laptop. Then transfer it over Bluetooth for installation on droid.
THIS WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE PROGRAM BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER.
Like somebody mentioned, the droids bluetooth capabilities are natively very limited.
I also remember having a LOT of problems when I set it up.
There's just one way to do it. Tell me if you follow the steps below and still don't get it.
1) Update your laptop bluetooth drivers.
NOTE: Sometimes you'll have try different ones. I had a IBM-T43 that just would NOT pair with an other smartphone I had. Then I deleted the IBM-T43 bluetooth drivers and installed the microsoft bluetooth drivers. Right now, I have an HP and the droid seems to play well with it.
2) Install 'Bluetooth File Transfer' from the market.
From some reason, even with Bluetooth file transfer....I cannot initiate a connection from the phone. It will pair......but it will not connect.
3) Go to your laptop....'My bluetooth places' or its equivalent. There should be an option on the left side to 'add bluetooth device'
4) Pair the two and connect from there. You should also see or be allowed to choose a list of available services. One of them for me was DROID OBEX FTP and DROID OBEX OBJECT PUSH. I think objects are for contacts, ringtones etc....while FTP is for regular files from the SD card.
5) I'd create a shortcut for both these in my bluetooth places
6) You are done!
NOW.....the ONLY way that this has worked for me when you want to transfer a file is
On your laptop......go to the shortcut...Droid FTP that you created and click on it with
1) BLUETOOTH ON
2) BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER running on the droid.
It will connect and in a Windows explorer window, bring up the contents of the SD card. Now you can move files in windows.
I've never been successful initiating the connection from the DROID.
Hope this helps.
Disclaimer: This is what I did on my HP6910. Even though most systems run windows...some of these settings may be in slightly different places for you. Search around and try to accomplish the same things as I mentioned.
If at all possible I use email or mms to transfer data first. Bt is great for printer though.
Phone to phone it is so much quicker to email or mms.

File transfers from the DROID to my laptop work, but when I try and send files from the laptop to the DROID it "no services found" in windows 7 even with the phone connected.
I have found that I can only transfer to certain devices from my Droid. BB is a no go I cannot BT n e thing to my husbands BB. I can to other motorola drvices, Samsung Delve no prob. LG ENV 3 no go . I use BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER by MIDEVAL as well. I get the paired not connected alert from all BB's I try to send things to, and that is after the password is entered. Hope this helps
I finally got this working. You need to have the bluetooth file transfer app installed as it provides the bluetooth FTP service. Also in windows, under bluetooth devices, right-click on your device and select properties. There should be a tab for services and make sure file transfer is checked. It wasn't automatically checked when I paired my DROID to my laptop.
After taking these steps, I was able to transfer any kind of file to/from my laptop to the DROID, regardless of which device the transfer was initiated on.

I don't see this listed under services. In fact nothing is listed. Can't send a pic via bt to pc. Paired but not connected? Any help would be great. Thanks
I am also paired but not connected. I went into phones properties on my computer BT devices and I have no hardware and device functions for my droid. I have the latest BT drivers on my computer because my BT mouse works flawlessly so I'm confused as to why there are no hardware drivers for the droid under properties. Anyone have this.
From above i should have "DROID OBEX FTP and DROID OBEX OBJECT PUSH" in there somewhere under hardware of device properties?
I was able to use a Bluetooth app *Can't remember the name of it off the top of my head* and was able to Bluetooth MP3's over to another phone. It was a bitch and didn't work often, but it worked that one time. VZ has made it REALLY hard.

The phones are paired, the Droid 2 is wanting permission to connect and download the file. Slide the status bar down and click to give permission to accept file.

One way to do transfer pictures, video, music, etc... (Media) between phones is to use DNLA.
Try repairing the two devices that should work in most cases. I don't know why but for some reason they forget that they are paired and how to talk with one another.
