Default can't install pda net

Trying to install PDA net on Droid. Using Trial version to check it out, and using x64 version. The driver appears to have installed correctly, and now when I try to install, and select "no" for the driver install piece, it looks like it's starting to install, but then gets the error "can't handshake with device". I have USB Debugging enabled per instructions. There was a different error btw before I got driver installed, I can't remember exactly, but it was "<something> failed to install". I did try uninstalling the driver and doing it all over again, but got the failed to install error.
Does anyone know why this is not working?

thx,
rlr

Windows 7, x64 Ultimate, Droid 2.0.1

sounds like some driver issue. I got it working with the same spec as you. what I did before this since I'm also a developer is I installed the SDK and usb driver there. see the link before and reference the last post.

x64 Bit windows driver for A855 (Droid?) - Android App Development for Motorola Handsets - MOTODEV Discussion Boards

if you want the driver I can upload it somewhere for you if you want to try it.

the file for pdaNet says it's 64bit. i tried uninstalling what i had and reinstalling driver from pdaNet. I also installed the SDK. in the thread you linked to he mentioned "reinstalling" the driver, not sure where he means to do that. When I try to install pdaNet now, I get the first message "Fail to open device for file transfer".

so i guess yeah, that would be handy (to have x64 driver),
thanks,
rlr

Here's the driver.
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

extract the files out somwhere. then plug in the droid to your pc, your pc should ask for the drivers at this point. Then point it to where you extracted it. after installing these drivers try to install pdanet again.

when i try to Update Driver, it says that the version i have is more current. when i uninstall current driver, it immediately picks up that one when i unplug and plug phone back in and doesn't give me option to search for other driver. not sure why it's doing that....

thanks,
rlr

you'll probably have to let it install then go to device manager and find it and update it manually.

not sure what you mean. that's where i went to reinstall driver before. I select Update in Driver Details, point it to the folder, and it tells me that my version is current. it's weird though, because when i uninstalled it completely, all I did was plug my phone back in and it was there, there was no driver installation popup.

yeah, just picked that up actually....
still not working though.
originally i had installed 4.2 motorola usb driver, x64, also just released.
now selecting bypass (No), when at driver install piece of PDA Net. It shows in device mgr that Android Composite ADB Interface is installed.
Now when I am at the point where it says "installing PDANET to your phone", it hangs and does nothing.
It's either that, or when installing their driver "~can not open for file transfer"

thanks a lot,
rlr

Hi,
finally got it to install to phone, reinstalling using their driver, which i did before, but idk i did a lot.

so now it's up and running on phone, and i have the desktop icon from which i can select "connect", but when i do so nothing happens, so i go to adapters and see that pda net network adapter is disconnected. when i try to connect, it gives me error 633: The modem is already in use or is not configured properly.
?

thx,
rlr

Frak! wasn't sure what to do with that error, so checked usb drivers with the tool they offer in their help section, usbdeview, and saw that there were 2 instances of each driver. So, i uninstalled pdanet, uninstalled all relating drivers, deleted entries in reg (hkcu, hklm), deleted the leftover file in Program Files, as well as emptied trash and checked temp file in Windows, but didn't see anything there, also double checked running processes to make sure nothing was there. Went to reinstall pdanet, and now back to error msg: Fail to open device for file transfer
???

thanks,
rlr

Were you able to resolve your issue? I'm the same boat where is stalls and hangs when it tries to install from PC to phone. Can't handshake with the device.
