Default droid makes spontaneous calls

My Motorola Droid will occasionally make phone calls after I've turned the machine off. I've observed the machine to restart and make a call, usually to a number prior to the topmost number on the call log. Any help on this?

I've been having this problem too. Usually it calls numbers from my visual voice mail. Has anyone figured out how to stop this?

There's an app called Lookout on the Marketplace. It's a free antivirus/spyware app that has a lot of other features. Install it and do a scan. You never know what you might find.

I had this happen. I think you are right about the call log. After you end a call the droid defaults to the call log and something very odd happens. The solution i found for now is to navigate away from the call log (ie, press home) and it seems to stop.

Seems to be some kind of very rare bug. Hope its fixed in 2.1

My Droid has done this a couple of times. Other forums suggest using only the OEM charger, but my phone did it again even after switching back. Verizon's answer was a factory reset, but since it is a "random calling" problem, there's no way to know if it is fixed. Interestingly, the phone dialed out on my Google Voice #, even when I had it set to ask permission before each call.

that makes me think its a valid bug. What we need to do is be able to reproduce this 100%, then we could submit a bug to google and they could fix it.

This happens frequently - will call the last dialed number, usually soon after the call ends. My wife's Eris is even worse.

Wonder if keeping the call log cleared would eliminate that?

This happened to me. I have the standard home (3 screens). My phone dialed my best friend at 2:30am a couple of times and my brother a few minutes later. My friend called me in the afternoon and wasnt happy about being woken up in the middle of the night- it also woke the baby up.

I have noticed sometimes when I charge my droid, I see the screen move and various programs open OR if I hit the power button (where the lock screen is at) - and plug in my phone, it seems like the button will move and vibrate as if someone was trying to unlock (slide the button) my phone. I have tried 3 different chargers and all do the same. This only seems to happen at home. I have my droid charger plugged into a 2 way extention cord outlet. One plug is for my lamp, the other is for my droid. The cable isnt long enough to reach my wall outlet directly. I could plug it into the wall outlet but it would be on the floor. I dont want it lying in the middle of the floor for my cats to possibly do something with OR dont want to accidently forget my phone is on the floor and step on it if I get up to go get a drink of water.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one having this issue. For me it seems like the issues occur when I am charging my phone. If I dont charge it, I dont have any issues. After this incident, I am scared to charge my phone at night.

my phone also made a phone call after I ended a call. I noticed the phone reverted to the call log also and the phone must have called the number preceding the number I called. Now when I end a call I also get out of the call log and I have not experienced this problem again.

This has happened to me twice randomly, I figured out on the second time when I was setting the phone down I hit the call button on the call log with my thumb.

I have accidentally dialed a number from the call log after finishing a call in the past. This app has stopped that nonsense.

They should give the user an option for this in the system s/w, but this app fills the gap until then.

I had this installed a bit ago and it worked fine for a few days then suddenly started sending me all over the place! It was supposed to send it back to home but I would end up in maps, market, calendar...I uninstalled it.
I'm going to give it another shot though, it's a good idea and if it works for me right I'll stick with it.

Mine's been even more odd than this. When I get ready to leave for work in the morning I turn off wifi and turn on BT, using the default power widget and waiting for one action to complete before doing the next. Once the BT is on I turn on my headset, sometimes the phone pops up and asks if I want to use GV or my cell number to call out. I don't dare allow it to call (6:30 AM and I don't know what number it's trying to dial), so I don't know where it is in my call log.

So much for not being able to dial from the BT headset, huh? lol

There is an app called Not Call Log Prefs that allows you set your screen to anything other than the CALL LOG screen it automatically goes to after you finish a phone call. If your like me and put your phone in your pocket after a call, there is a good chance your gonna end up calling someone by mistake. This app prevents calls to be made that you didn't want made. I have mine set to go back to my home screen once I am finished with a call. Not sure if this is what the original poster was looking for.

I have had this happen to a couple numbers when phone is off. I do have a blue tooth and I do use the call log often, so perhaps it is related to one of those two as surmised herein. I have motorola Droid 2.2.1. I put the phone in sleep mode, but it spontaneously calls out. Once i thought it was because I may have hit a button on my blue tooth devise.
