Default Sync Contacts Mac Droid

I wish to sync Contacts between Motorola Droid and Mac (10.6). I tried the following with no success:

1

Click on the "Address Book" icon in the Dock to launch the application.
2

Open the "Address Book" menu at the top of the screen and choose "Preferences."
3

Go to the "Accounts" tab at the top of the pop-up window.
4

Check the box next to "Synchronize With Google."
5

Click on the "Configure" button.
6

Enter your Google user name and password and click "OK." The Address Book application will now sync with your Google contacts.

I do not need files, photos, videos or sound recordings, only contacts, i.e., Mac Address Book. I do not have Entourage. Any other suggestions?

If you just need a one time import, not a continual sync, login to GMail and export your contacts as "vCard format (for importing into Apple Address Book or another application)" then pull that file into the Mac address book.

Thank you for your reply. Specifically my desire is to put my entire Address Book (on my computer) onto my Droid, rather than the other way around. It can be a one time transfer.

Open Address Book, select the ALL group, Rt Click and select 'Export Group VCard' and save the file.
Login to GMail, select Contacts, under the 'More Actions' tab select 'Import', navigate to the VCard file you saved earlier, click 'Import' and you're done.

Yes, the solution Rednuance offered works if you need to import contacts. But if you need to keep contacts in Android and Address Book in Mac in sync all the time - SyncMate can help. It offers iCal and Address Book sync for absolutely free.
