Default Help: No 3G before & after reset

My moms moto droid did not have a 3g connection continously for the last few months. After no help from Verizon (of course still paying data fee each month) I decided to take a swing at it. I rooted, and tried installing a new ROM, but the installation failed (root was a success)

Yesterday, I decided to try doing a factory reset to see what that would do. Ad yes, I got ahead of myself: AFTER reset, and AFTER research, i realized i should have tried dialing *228.

Well, after reset, I still have no 3g connection, and am unable to login with google account during the initial setup of the phone (because it cannot connect with google servers.)

Later today, I'm going to try to connect to wifi, and see if that will allow me to login.

Other than that, any ideas on what I can do?

Default Tried to login over wifo, - no joy

I tried the login process over wifi, and it did not work. It says it was unable to contact Google servers.
