Angry Navigation speach very fast. How to fix?

So the navi on my Droid randomly started speaking very fast. I shut the phone down & restarted, but no change. It's been doing it ever since. Has anyone else had this happen? How did you fix it?

Google Maps Nav uses whatever is your default TTS engine. It does not have its own voice.

Have you checked the settings for your TTS engine? I don't why they would have changed without your knowledge but it should be your first step in troubleshooting TTS issues.
