Default SD Card reformatting??

I have the original Droid, If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I have never had any problems w/ my SD card. One day it just completely quit working. I tried connecting through USB, I've tried plugging in to a card reader to transfer files to Pc. tried putting in another phone, and another Droid. Nothing I try seems to be able to read it. I've read on this forum something about Reformatting the SD card, but I have no Idea on how I can do that. Hopefully it's not too stupid of a question.

Thanx in advance ,,,,RonD

You would have to plug it into your computer to reformat it. When you plug it in go to my computer and right click on the drive letter that is the card and select format.

Hey Ron D buddy!

Welcome to the forums dude!

Hmm good that you have a card reader.

Hmm I am not 100% sure why it wont read the card.

Okay out the card into the SD Card reader and put it into the PC.

Now I think in Windows you right click the Transflash and go format sd.

Now chose

FAT32

And just go format and that should do the trick I think so at least.

DO NOT click "Quick Format"

Make sure you do a long format just in case something went wrong it will take some time to do a full format of the drive but it will be worth it.

Regards

Stinky

With the size of the SDCard, I recommend formatting, then doing it again, both times performing a full format. Once should be enough, but only if no errors are found, and more than likely there will be.

However, since you mentioned that the card is not being recognized in the card reader either, you may have to go the longer route of deleting the existing position and then repartitioning it manually through the disk management interface of windows to get windows to even recognize the card before you can format it. If you do, make sure to create the position as FAT32 with encryption turned off.
