Default "Unable to send text until service is available"

What could be happening when you get that message after you hit "send". WiFi or 3G is at full strength, so I don't think it's a connectivity issue. It's happened a few times over the last few days. A little red envelope appears with something that looks like a timer. Message eventually sends, but several minutes later.
Nothing major, just curious if it's something I'm doing or causing...

Yeah I think I know what your talking about. Its a Verizon issue. Mine always says I cant connect to the Internet or there are network problems. Really really makes me mad. I tried telling Verizon and they said they would fix it but the too stupid to care about one customer. Thats a monopoly for ya.

If wi-fi is on, 3G is off. That we know. Physical location can be an issue. I recc going into a corporate store, and working with a friendly tech. We like to help folks, you know...

Have you face "Unable To Send Text Until Service Is Available"? I just sent sms out after a few days try and error and search a lot of forum to find out the solution, but no one can directly solve the problem. I also not sure what I did untill can send out. Anyway hope these can help u:
1) My signal is good. I can send sms out (I test with sms to myself) by stock messaging but cannot with Handcent. Both can receive sms.
2) I reg with Handcent, and update, still cannot send.
3) I open WiFi, still cannot send.
2) I disable stock messaging notification and enable Handcent notification, still cannot send.
3) I install GO SMS and chompSMS, also face same problem.
3) I uninstall all sms apps (included GO SMS, chompSMS) and install back Handcent only, still cannot send.
4) I delete all sms (after backup to gmail) since i get this solution from other forum, still cannot send.
5) I restart my phone, still cannot send.
6) I off Wifi and open Data Connection, suddenly can send.
7) I off data connection again, still can send.
8) I on Wifi back with data off & on, still can send.
9) I suspect Data Connection, but curious why i off data connection and wifi again, still can send. Normal sms should be send out with signal good, but why i need to on and off to play around then only can send???
10) I install back GO SMS, chompSMS. Now all can send.

I was under the impression that text messages were sent via 1X phone carrier signal. Otherwise, dumb phones would not be able to sent them. So I'm not sure that 3G or WiFi availability should make any difference.

My refurb phone is doing this too.
Interesting though to watch the signal strength.
When not doing anything on the phone, I have 3G and 4 bars.
When I click send while dialing a number, 3G goes away, and I get 2 bars.
When I click send to send a text, sometimes it goes to 1 bar.
Seems like when it tries to connect it is loosing signal strength.
I've also notice that while surfing the web on Wi-Fi, it will drop the network connection and give me the page cannot be displayed message. To fix this, I have to disconnect from Wi-Fi by disabling it. Then it will connect to 3G, then I can reconnect Wi-Fi to get back on the web.
My originial droid didn't have this issue, probably why this was a refurb. Of course, when I go back to the Verizon store, it doesn't act up, so, they just think I'm crazy. Arrgg
