Default Couldn't Sync Accounts - Figured It Out

I had removed the updates to Google music since I don't use it.
This was a month ago.
I also have a lot of contacts...in excess of 2,400.

Last night I could not sync google nor facebook.
I pulled the battery, rebooted et cetera. Syncing was consuming my cpu too.
I cleared caches and then went for data - FB only. Still no help.

A little voice pipped in - reinstall the google music updates.
Voila - it all syncs now...as it used to.

Is there some tie to that app?

Oh, while I am asking questions - anyone know why when I export my contact list from google in googles format, the file is chinese characters that I do not understand?
The vcard was "normal" when exporting for Outlook and an Apple vcard was fine as well, but if I choose the google format, the resulting file is 為什麼面對這 .vcf?

Edit - nevermind - my first contact on the contacts list is in Chinese.

This time, disable the syncing for Google Music, reboot, then uninstall Music.

When you first boot your phone, under Settings --> Applications --> Running Services (as it appears on Gingerbread-based ROMs, not sure if it was exactly the same under FrYo) You'll see where the Music Service and process is initiated. First kill that service completely (it won't come back until boot) and then uninstall Music. Then reboot.

And that friends, ends the mystery.
I got a boatload of phone memory back, I appreciate it.

And yes, in the same place in Froyo.

Wlecome. I've been paying a lot more attention to services since I started runing GB (CM 7 nightly) on my DROID - it was the only way to keep CM running stable, so if it's an app that I already have installed, I can tell you a lot about its (sometimes stupid) behavior when it comes to running services.

Enjoy your newfound snappiness.

It allowed me to uninstall the entire app?
The phone still shows "Music" but the footprint is 0 Kb?

Google's Music app from the market is the lauded 'honeycomb' version - but Android still comes with its own Music app, so it may be that one trying to get in on the action...
