Exclamation Can no longer update apps - Moto Droid

For the past 2 weeks I have been unable to update any app on my Droid. I keep getting the "black triangle!" symbol telling me that it cannot update the app. It downloads it but the moment it begins to install it...it fails.

The exact error message is: Installation Error --- Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card.

I have tried the following:
* moving the app from the SD back to the phone
* airport mode on then off again
* taking the SD card out and re-seating it

I have been having other issues like slow load screens (ie home, apps, gallery etc), rebooting on its own, selective ringtones no loner working for certain contacts.

My biggest concern is the app updates...can anyone offer any advice?
Thank you!

My Eris got to the point where individual app updates wouldn't work but "Update all" would get most of the updates.

It sounds like your SDCard is simply not mounted right, or that there is a larger problem - the SDCard is getting corrupted.

Power of the phone, remove the SDCard and reinsert it - power back up and see if it helps. If it does not, then you may need to get a card reader, copy the contents to your computer somewhere, format it, and then copy he contents back....
