Default Has anyone else's Droid 1 turned into a piece of do-do?

I bought my droid 1 last April and it was "the best thing on the market and it will just get better for years to come", or so the verizon sales rep claimed. In the last 3 to 4 months my beloved droid has become the bain of my existence and I am ready to throw it through a wall. It keeps freezing, won't respond to commands, and I am writing this post now becuase I can't place a call with it (I may as well own an AT&T Iphone). Is this becuase that platform has advanced and my "state of the art" driod is now a piece of crap obsolete months and months before verizon will support me purchasing the droid 3...its like bait and switch or something (here's a great smart phone that will totally suck a year later and you'll have to buy a new one)...

Again, I used to love my little droid and now I want to beat it with a sledge hammer ...

Am I the only one?

Ok, FWIW: Never, ever ever trust a sales rep in the store. Period.

The DROID is an old phone - it came out in Nov 2009. If I were you I'd argue with VZW customer service, escalating the calls repeatedly, until you get someone taking care of you and giving you a much more current phone. however, do note that:

1) The DROID has low RAM - so if you install a ton of apps on it it is going to freeze as it runs out of RAM to run all those apps

2) Low RAM also means it's not made primarily as a gaming device, particularly high end games.

3) if you really want to try to make this phone work, perform a Factory reset (you'll lose all your apps and settings, but your contacts are synced to your Google account) and start over - and prudently install apps that you need, not want.
