Default Moto Droid OG power button broken...HELP

So my power button on my original moto droid is stuck, I've tried to clean the cracks, blown air in between the cracks, and nothing has worked. I've had this phone for a little over a year and have had no problems, rooted and all(not that this matters). But anyways, if you guys can give me some feedback on what I should do, I DON'T want to upgrade my plan because there aren't any phones out right now that I would want to have for another 2 yrs. Thanks!

Get an app like tap tap or anylock so you can wake your phone without using the power button.

Is it possible that if I were to call VZW customer support that they could ship me a new phone? Or is this wishful thinking?

Is your phone still under warranty? If so, absolutely you can get it replaced at no cost. I did.

If not under warranty, I am sure verizon would love to give you a new phone for a few hundred dollars...though, I doubt it would be an OG droid.

It almost seems that Moto built the OG Droid to last 1.5 years, then... bloooey. The power button on mine somehow lost its "bounce" and receded into its hole. If I pushed on it really hard I could start the phone So I got a small piece of thick plastic, cut it to the exact dimension of the button and glued it on. That worked.

Until the next thing breaks.

I don't think my phone is under any warranty because I bought it off craigslist like I said about a year ago.

I think I'm SOL to be honest...this kinda sucks.

They did for me. I got it a day later.
This was after 9 months.
