when entering address into gmail, then syching to droid, the postal address (as lableled on droid) does not import correctly. all data is imported into street field and not properly imported into street, city, state, and zip fields.

Any help / direction is appreciated

I noticed the same thing, and I am not really sure anything can be done about it other than manually editing each contact.

If something can, I haven't seen it documented ... yet....

I agree that the interface being different is a bit stupid, but it doesn't seem to affect anything as far as I can tell. It works the same on the phone whether it is split up or not. Also, the only place that you can tell it is different is in the edit screen. It looks the same if you are just looking at the contact.
