My droid screen is completely black now i can't see anything or touch anything. The phone works, I can receive calls, texts, emails, etc. It vibrates normally, the white charge light is working, the notification light works fine. I have no idea what's going on or what to do. I'm a freshman in college, money is tight, and i really need my phone. Please help, Thanks

I have the same issue: phone will turn on and off (via removing the battery) but the screen remains black. The backlight functions properly and I similarly can receive texts and calls, but I have no way of opening them. I, too, am in college and would hate to have to replace my phone. Please help.

Have you tried rebooting to ensure the screen is still operating? Pull the battery, wait a few seconds. Put tthe battery back in and hold the 'X' key while turning power on. If you can get the Recovery menu the screen is functional, try rebooting from there.

Actually, with a battery pull, it's good to leave it out for a full 5 minutes or more to allow it to reset itself.

I've never heard that before. How can the phone be doing anything with the battery out?

Capacitors will keep a trickle of power there - until that goes away....

that would be my theory.

And trust me, I have heard it a few dozen times.

My guess is that a battery pull keeps the OS from shutting down properly and saving bad info.
