Default Managing space on original Droid.

I am still using original Droid and eagerly awaiting for Nexus Prime, but in the mean time maybe someone could help me.

For a while I was using various roms, but they were all buggy and did not worked well, so I reverted back to stock 2.2.1. One of the benefits of roms is that I could move any app to SD whether the app allowed it or not, therefore freeing up space on the Droid internal 261MB internal storage. Now on stock 2.2.1, I can move to SD only apps that allow it, resulting in considerably reducing the available space on the internal storage.

I though App 2 SD app will allow moving all apps to SD, but it only moves the apps that have the "move 2 SD" available (not very useful). Currently the total size taken by the apps on the internal storage is 120MB. However I only show 37MB available.

I cleared the cache for all the apps, but it did not increased the available size by much.

What is taking the other 100MB and how can I clean it?

Thanks

I have no SMS, call log is small maybe 100, 150 calls. Not sure where I can check cache for the system apps. I checked the ALL tab in teh application and the largest app size is 12MB for Adobe Flash Player.

If you used all tabs to check for Cache's you're good. No SMS is good. Call log - heck, try it and see if it makes a difference - Call Log Backup and Restore allows not only backups and deletion, but also restoring those calls back to your call log at any given time.

A few things to note:

Apps2SD in Android FroYo is as you say - it is available as an option only if the app developer has made the necessary code edit in his/her app to allow for it. So, you can't move everything.

More importantly though, I missed this in your first post - when you say you ahve 120 MB of free app space but only 37 MB available, where did you get the 37 MB available from? I suspect that you're confusing storage space and RAM (which is not the same thing).

Here is what I meant.

There is a total of 261MB. I counted the size of the apps I have on the internal storage. It came up to approximately 120MB. The phone shows that it only have 37MB available. That leaves: 261 - 120 - 37 = approx 104MB that I cannot account for. Sure OS takes some space, but I do not know how much.

Where can I find the phone logs?

You'll need root access for such things - and your System OS Space is actually separate from Application OS space - but Gmail also holds a lot even if you use the default sync for 4 days setting.

There are apps that can collect the logs, like Log Collector - Market Link and others, but I don't know if they read existig logs or monitor apps to append to their own log list. I believe it is the former, but I haven't delved into it very carefully.

Once again, what part of Settings --> were you deriving this from? I need a specific answer to rule out a common misconception, but I don't want to suggest that you've made the misconception until I know for sure using evidence.

My Phone is rooted. The Total size comes from the App2SD app. The available size comes from SD Card & Phone Storage settings. The app on the internal storage is the taken from adding all the apps that are movable but not moved and Phone only apps.
