Default Display is dead

I have the original Droid which is 2 years old now, suddenly had issue with display today. I see nothing on display. If I call the phone, I hear it ring. I tired powering down, up. I tried removing battery and putting it back. When turned on, the keyboard lights up, the icons at the bottom of the display light up but nothing on the screen. I don't have any warranty on the phone. Is there a way to fix this?

If I can't fix it, I am considering buying a used Droid on Ebay. There seem to be lots of them for less than 100. If I get one on Ebay, is it easy to activate it with Verizon with the same phone number and plan that I currently have? I wouldn't want my contract extended though. I am currently eligible to upgrade with a $30 discount but am not ready yet.

Thanks for the help.

1) remove the battery and let it sit out for 10 minutes. Then put it back in and power it on.

2) If that does not work, sure, you can get one on eBay - provided you don't get gypped. Activating it will be no problem, it's the same phone you already have, just need to call and activate the new MEI on your same line.

3) If you're interested in a DROID with:
  • Extra battery (both stock)
  • External battery charger
  • Car dock (I drilled a hole in the back so that the speaker could be heard better)
  • Desktop dock
  • Shell / holster combo
  • Your choice of OS (it is on FRG83G aka FroYo 2.2.2, but I can root it or leave it stock, and I can put a ROM on there if you'd like, or not, and even put an older DROID Stock OS on there)
  • Motorola MotoROKR T505 BT to FM modulator for hand free music and calls
  • Motorola S9-HD headphones

Make me a reasonable offer - I bought all this stuff piecemeal, paying full retail price on almost everything except the spare battery, T505 and S9-HD headset (got them cheaply on Amazon, and the battery charger too), never got it in any sort of package deal. I can say this: The phone runs great, although it was definitely overlocked during most of the time I had it rooted. All keys on the KB work, no bubbling, touch screen is 100% responsive, and I kept it in the shell / holster combo 99% of the time, so the body is nearly flawless. Everything works that is supposed to work, and I'll even throw in a single USB cigarette lighter adapter from Monoprice that let's up to 1A of juice flow through it ( - b/c it only costs like a dollar to begin with).

Just saying.

As for when you get one, well, you'll want to call VZW and make sure you tell them that this is a replacement phone, so no new contract
