Money Motorola a855 crashed - Any suggestions?

Yesterday I noticed that my screen displayed that I had "No Service". The phone had full power and was working fine the previous day. I took it to the Verizon store where they verified my account status and checked to see if there were any network issues, which there were not. They reset the phone to factory settings and also used a "sweeper" to clean the phone. Now, the network doesn't even recognize the phone. I'm told my only option is to replace the phone which, of course, is out of warranty. Any suggestions???

It sounds like your Radio (baseband) has gone stupid for some odd reason.

Before replacing, have you ever updated the baseband software? In About phone, what is your baseband version listed as?

We might be able to get it working if it is a software issue, but if the actual chip is fried, then you'll have no choice to replace the phone if you want to use it over a cellular network, or else go the long router that lets you use Google Voice and SIP networks to make calls over WiFi only.
