Default wifi teather trouble/question

Ok, So I've got the wifi teather rom/app on my phone..My PC itself is running windows 7, However it does not have any built in wireless cards or anything, The only thing I have is a linksys dual-band wireless-n usb network adapter, And when I plug it in to my pc and turn on wifi on my phone, neither are able to recognize one another...Is it because it's wireless-n that it's not working?..Some help on getting this wifi to work would be much appreciated..

*yes I scanned the boards, but nothing helped*

thx
