Recovering Locked Phone in Airplane Mode
My wife lost (stolen?) her phone yesterday while traveling.
Installed on the phone are two applications - First, Lookout, which allows you to locate the phone using GPS. Second, some serious corporate security software that requires a very non-trivial password to enter. Fail something like 5 times, and it wipes the phone.
Since she was flying, the phone was last left in airplane mode. Doh!
SO... Lookout won't work because it's not on the network.
The corporate security will prevent anyone from taking the phone out of airplane mode.
Two questions beg to be answered:
- If someone finds the phone and before being trashed by the corporate security, they plug it in via USB, what might they be able to access or get off the phone? Photos are a non-issue, talking data from gmail, corporate mail, DropBox files, etc. All passwords have already been changed, but data on the phone will still be on the phone
- Can anyone think of a work-around for finding a phone such as this or are we in that "perfect storm" of security & airplane mode here which will prevent the phone from ever being found. Decision to be made is putting a sticker on the back such that a good Samaritan finder can reach out to return the phone. Right now, that is simply not possible.
Any thoughts from the great minds of AndroidForums?
