I figured that since we already have a release date, it won't be long before private companies start making accessories, so in the spirit or organization and tidiness, i am hoping this will be a one stop thread for info on accessories for the droid X.

So the Silicon Skins, never used one before, are those the soft ones? Cause I think I'd be looking for a hard case. The Verizon rep said she'd be picking up a screen protector and a hard case. Just wanted to be sure. And would anyone happen to know the official name for the droid x? beyond it being the droid x, I thought I saw somewhere where it was like MB some number some number some number.
Device(s): Galaxy Nexus- Rom: AOKP toro current build

As I recall, they have hard and soft cases, but what do I know?
Awww thanks for being a doll. So soft and hard for them okay. And do the soft protect as much as the hard? Which one is technically better?
In my experience the silcone cases fell apart over time. I had 2 from different manufacturers and both broke over time. I have a LG Voyager so I am constantly opening and closing the device to access the QWERTY keyboard. Since the X is not this style I imagine it would not be an issue breaking.
Being a male I keep my phone in my front pockets and anytime I pulled the phone out, up came the pocket with it, if that makes any sense. Plus it would always be covered in lint. I prefer the hard cases much better, more durable and just as thin. I recently dropped my LG Voyager about 4 feet on cement (and bounced around a few times) and while it scratched up the case a little bit, the phone was not damaged one bit.
I work for a VZW Retail store, and in our shipment yesterday we received those hybrid silicon/plastic posted in the first post and also regular black silicon covers. Another snap-on case similar to the Amzer case but has a carbon fiber pattern to it all around. We also received the Body Glove case for it, and the Shell/Holster combo.
To answer the question about the dock working with a silcon cover. It will not

do the VZW cases have the same wide opening in the back as pictured above...or have they been updated similar to the Amzer one?
So, both the car dock and the HDMI station require the X to be naked? That really throws a wrench into things for me since my X will be in one or the other daily. Not a big deal, but it's going to get old taking the case on/off a couple of times a day.
Found these on Ebay, i like them, i don't know if i would get them, i am in college, my backpack is purple, my ipod case is purple, ah i cant have another purple, i like them though, maybe in black.
does anybody have real life pictures of what the silicone cases looked like. I remember seeing it somewhere, but I belong to like a thousand forums just for android

I just saw the carbon fiber case...and had them hold one for me along with two X's. If you're thinking that this is another plastic case with a silver checkerboard pattern stuck on it, think again. This looks and feels like real carbon fiber. I'm not sure if it really is though...couldn't take it out of the box. The box just has a hole in it so you can feel the texture of the case.
JRun, correct me if I am wrong, but I think the hdmi cable comes with the hdmi dock. Also, is VZ selling the cases that have a kickstand? Thx
Was just in at my local VZW this morning and played with a Droid X. She was able to pul up the Black Leather snap on case w/kickstand and ordered it for me. Will be here in 2 business days, free shipping. I already have the HDMI dock and it does not include an HDMI cable.

The iphone always has a large selection of cases, i wish Speck would start making cases for other phones, these look amazing! I guess it helps that the iphone has a slab form factor, no bulges and what not
I decided to get these below. Only $6 plus shipping. With a skin, I can still use the docks while protecting from scratches. Yeah it won't help much for drops but a case doesn't guarantee itself for drops anyway.
It even comes with a matching wallpaper for your screen!! damn good for $10 shipped.

decalgirl.com also has skins like these (for about the same price i think - with free background download) - not sure if they have any for the X up on the site yet though. but there is also a HUGE selection on that website as well.
and for the person who asked about thickness... these are like stickers so they don't really add any thickness at all.
I know some people where concerned about whether or not the droid x will fit in the dock with thier case, i have been thinking about this too, so i wanted you guys to check out this video for the phantom skinz carbon fiber skin, i posted a pic of it earlier, this video is of a guy with the HTC Evo, he did not show the application of it, but looking at it, i might go with this and a screen protector rather than a case....
Anyone looking for a cheaper car mount might want to check out the Mega Grip from Arkon. They have a bunch of different options and the holder can turn to landscape.

I bought this carbon fiber look case the other day. It is a hard shell plastic snap cover but the surface is a rubbery feel carbon fiber look material. It looks good, and I think I will like it fine (still waiting on the x to arrive). I bought a leather belt pouch as well, and I tried inserting the cover into the pouch and the flap will not close. The leather pouch will be going back. hopefully I can find another case, because i am not accustomed to carrying a phone in mypocket.
The skin fits snugly and has cutouts for cables, microphone, camera and lanyard loop. It has a little extra thickness on the corners where the phone would likely land if dropped. The margin wraps around the entire front edge to keep the glass off the surface if placed face down. There are raised bumps for volume, power and shutter buttons making them easy to press. If it holds up and doesn't get loose, I'll be happy.
The leather case it came with looks a little cheap. Just my $0.02, but it looks like there's more vinyl than real leather. Time will tell if it is durable. It has a light magnetic latch and is sized appropriately for the Droid X with skin. There's a cutout that makes it easy to pop the phone up when removing it from the case. The belt clip rotates (with detents) so you can orient the pouch any way you like.
At about $15US, I figured it was worth a shot. It doesn't grab the vent louvers very tightly, but it did seem to hold tightly enough. The power (USB) cable fits through the hole in the cradle so it's a little awkward but not blocked. The cradle itself holds the phone (in the skin) tightly enough and there's a tension adjustment on the ball and socket swivel so I won't worry about that getting too lose with use. During a 10 mile drive to run spome errands, it held my Droid X without flopping around. At that price, I'm happy.
I also got a short (1.5') charging cable and a mini to micro USB adapter so I can share the cable between my Sansa clip and Droid X. I like the short cable for travel because the tangle factor is so low.
Motorola DROID X is an Android powered smartphone with a 1GHz processor, huge 4.3-inch display with 480x854 pixels resolution, 8-megapixel camera with 720p motion video capture and many other features. It's the newest addition to Motorola... Read More
