Steinheil Ultra Crystal screen protector install and review
Just arrived in the mail today. I must say I am really impressed with how fast it shipped considering it was just released on July 14th.
Package contents:
It comes with two screen protectors. That is it and that is all you need. It came packaged in a large envelope and sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard. Nice touch
Installation:
Installation was a snap. Took a total of five minutes from package open to install complete. I installed mine in the bathroom with the shower running on hot to create a humid environment. This helps keep dust down. I cleaned my screen with a microfiber cloth and a few squirts of eyeglass cleaner. After that I cleaned it again. That is just the OCD in me. I laid the protector down on the screen to make sure it fit and to see what alignment would be before removing the protective film. Peeled part of the back film away and aligned it with the top and slowly applied it downward using a credit card to smooth it as I went. When application was done I used the credit card to smooth out the edges. Then I peeled the top protective layer off. Finished!!!
Results:
I must say that I am extremely impressed with these protectors. I have a regular Steinheil on my Droid and it was cut just very slightly big so it never laid flat on one corner. Not the case here. There is only a very slight gap at the top and bottom. When I say slight I mean hairline. There is zero bubbles or raising. Clarity is unaffected. Touch is just slightly less smooth than bare glass but nothing that affects performance. And nowhere near anything like you get from went apply films.
Conclusion:
I highly recommend. Get over to SGP Store and order one now.
Thanks for the review! That's exactly what I needed to hear. I got the VZW anit-glare protector and it was horrible! The only reason I went for it is because I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow, and ordering anything, I wouldn't get it at least until I came back. Well, I'm stuck in that boat anyway.
Exactly what I was looking for, it goes the full width of the glass. I actually do not mind the verizon one, but I can't for the life of me figure why it isn't full width and length.
So I installed mine today and it is literally the most beautiful screen protector I've ever seen. It looks like it isn't even there!
My one complaint is that it seems a little sticky. Did you notice that? Does it get better with a little use? I'm having a really hard time scrolling through lists without selecting things randomly.

Yes that is what I stated in my review. I wouldn't really consider it sticky. Just not as smooth as bare. You want sticky try a Zagg.
I wish I could order this. I've been waiting for it to come back in stock on their site and it still hasn't. Does anyone have any idea when it will be back in stock?

Just wanted to amend my previous comments - After being used for a day and going in and out of my pocket this cover is truly amazing. I now literally can't tell the difference between the glass and the cover. Before I was always anti cover, but now I will always have one as long as Steinheil makes one for which ever phone I have!
Ordered mine on Friday the 16th, and it arrived the next day Saturday! Install took me about 20 minutes. I was extra careful and slow with the install. Install came out flawless! I love this screen protector. I had it on my Droid Incredible as well, so I knew I should receive a high quality product. And they proved me right.
Fingerprints are still visible, but extremely minor. For all you that say you would rather go naked screen, you are crazy, and have fun with fingerprint city on your phone.
Do you have pictures with the phone screen on? This would help us judge clarity with the protector on. Also, can you show a pic of the phone (screen off) with a finger swipe across it? This would help me judge how finger prints look.
Thanks for the great review - I just ask this because no one seems to do it. Sure a phone looks great with a squeaky clean protector... the real test is when the protector is "being used".

Oh my. This thing is amazing! I bought it Friday, and they had it to me today! It went on extremely easy. I had the standard protector that was on it out of the box until yesterday when it decided it wanted to pull up and let dust in. So basically, I had to be extremely careful the past two days not to get much dust on it or anything.
I was extremely scared about that because the day after I got me Incredible, a particle of sand scratched the screen. It was the most disappointing moment of my life.
I applied this whilst I had the shower and sink running hot water to make it as humid as possible. The protector went on SO easy that it made me almost cry a little because I used PhantomSkinz on my Incredible. Not to say that Phantom isn't a great product, but this Steinheil DRY INSTALL made me the happiest person ever. I have it on my screen currently, and honestly, I will doubt if anyone can be able to tell if there is one or not.
The only thing is that the protector doesn't actually fit the WHOLE bezel. It's a tiny, TINY amount that doesn't cover the bezel completely, but that might be a good thing when it comes to cases or a bad thing when it comes to wear and tear. I would have preferred it to cover every inch of this glass, but it still went on amazingly easy and is definitely the best protector I've felt so far.
PROS
Easy dry install
It sits flush with the phone just like the glass
Very miniscule fingerprints
CONS
Doesn't completely cover the bezel
It has this sticky-feel to it, but I've heard it wears out over time
Seriously though, it really feels like a good shield. I'll need more time with it as to experience the wear and tear effects, but I've heard it holds up quite well!

Hehe, you must have a pretty good life .
Also, how much was shipping from SGPStore?

for those of you that are trying to order this screen protector...their website will show that they're sold out. However, they are on eBay for $13.99 + $2.00 for shipping. Just ordered one, woohoo!
Cretouch is another source. Ordered mine Saturday and was shipped today. Unfortunately they too are now out of stock of the crystal. Thanks for the review btw.
Just installed my Ultra Crystal and I love it. You can barely tell its on unless you look hard at the screen edges. It covers the entire screen... I see why some mentioned it does not. I do have a 1 mm gap toward the bottom buttons and maybe 0.5 mm on each side, but really that is nitpicking. Also, having it perfectly fit edge to edge would have made installing slightly more difficult.
I found the steamy shower install worked perfectly. Mine came with 2 full screen protectors, and for small stickers (to be used as dust removal tools). Squeegee and towel were also included.
Overall excellent product. I am letting is sit on for a few hours before putting a case over it. My Dinc screen protector was pushed up around the sides by the case :-(
Highly highly recommended protector!!!

To be honest a pic with the screen on would only be effective if I did a before and after. Sorry I didn't think of that beforehand. And fingerprints look just like they do on the bare screen. But they come off just as easy too. The protector has actually broken in so to speak. It has smoothed out and become a little more resistant to fingerprints over the last few days.

Do you get alot of noticeable fingerprints w/ the Clear film? I am thinking about getting the anti-fingerprint, but I'm afraid that is will take the display quality away.....

Honestly, you do get fingerprints, but if you are using the phone and the screen is on, you cannot tell where the fingerprints disappeared to. It's also an easy and quick shirt wipe to get the fingerprints off.

I have Steinheil AF, it is slightly blurry, not the least bit sticky D/T the textured surface and have yet to see a fingerprint.
I think Skinomi (about $10 on Amazon) is a good compromise if you want less fingerprints w/o a loss of clarity. Occasionally I'd have a rainbow effect DT skin oil with that.
So far they have not impressed me. I ordered mine on Friday about noon. It did not ship until Monday and I still have not gotten it. It is only going to Oregon from So Cal. So there is no reason it should not be here except for the fact I noticed tonight when I went back to the site that they did not transfer my whole address from Paypal over. It is missing my box number but has the address. So the USPS could be being jerky about it since it does not have that number. This is the first company I have seen that all the info does not transfer and I use Paypal for everything I can when I buy online.
Just received and applied my crystal shield from Cretouch. BTW, good fast service....scheduled to arrive tomorrow and it came today. I've applied a number of shields recently.....with my iPad I've tried a few so I knew how troublesome they can be. It helps if you have a can of compressed air as once you wipe dust bits off they seem to accumulate quite quickly on the screen unless you work fast.
Anyway, the shield was cut perfectly....just a bit smaller than the limits of the screen so you get some leeway in its application but not too small to cheat you. I had only one spec of dust to remove after initial application.
Very nice shield. I compared it to the Zagg on my Droid and it is optically clearer when viewing reflections from light when the screen it off. Not real surprising since there is a slight orange peel effect to the Zagg. As far as tackyness is concerned it is just a bit tacky but that will go away with time, just as it has with the Zagg. Fingerprints....so far I am pleasantly surprised that it is somewhat resistant. More resistant than bare glass. I suspect though when the tackyness eases, there will be more fingerprints.
Note there is no glare protection at all. When I hold up my bare iTouch, Droid (Zagg), X (Steinheil) to a reflective ceiling (ceiling light) they all reflect about the same. And as I alluded to, this is a real clear shield. Recommended.
i just installed this. i thought i had messed it up so i went to remove it only to realize that i had just removed the extra sheet thing, and i had done it right. that's how hard it is to tell it's on there haha.
Also got the ultra crystal off ebay. Saves a few $$$
Fit and finish is perfect.
Finger prints do show up but at least I have peace of mind knowing it protected now.
Almost went with the aint fingerprint but didnt want to sacrifice the screen being cloudy.
Purchased ultra clear on ebay, install was not too bad considering it was my first time and I played with getting it right a few times. Looks great and feels the same as the glass. Nice to have a spare on the shelf. Peace of mind is priceless.

Never ordering from them again, will do ebay or a secondary. They shipped it Monday by USPS and not here yet. I ordered late Monday, shipped tuesday some cables through Amazon and they got here today. WTF? Bargain sellers get their stuff here faster than some higher end company.
It ships from Cali so if you are on the east coast expect it to take a good 4-5 days to arrive. I ordered mine on Sunday, shipped on Monday, and got mine on Friday. I live near Chicago.

Well I am only ~700 miles from them and it took 3 days to get here. I suspect they do an auto postage print notifying the post office of the shipment and then it actually ships the next day.
My biggest gripe is with the overall service from them. I sent them 2 emails and never heard back from either one. I never got a shipment notice from them. I had to go there and see that is shipped by logging in. It really sounds like they do not want to sell to the general public.

Actually the cables I ordered also came from California, took from Tuesday to Friday. While SGP is taking Monday to maybe Saturday, will know a bit later. I am sure the product is good but some how their shipping is worse than any one else I have dealt with and I order online alot.

I ordered my screen protectors from SGP last Friday night. They arrived on Thursday. I'm in Arizona. That's less than 1 week from the time I ordered to when I received them. Under the circumstances I feel that's a perfectly reasonable delivery time.
I also order a lot online and have learned to never expect quick delivery when UPS and/or the US Snail are involved. My apologies to anyone who works for either organization but I've learned, mostly the hard way, to never expect a quick turnaround from either.

Similar situation here. I'm in Chicago. I ordered mine from their eBay site on Saturday. Looks to be out for delivery today (Saturday - a week later).
I think i installed mine wrong, came out very bubbly, can you help,
Is the green(surface protection film) supposed to be peeled off last? Are you supposed to start off by peeling off the side with that green sticker (w/ exclamation point) to apply?

I use an xacto knife blade and carefully slide it (using the long axis) under a corner to pull it up. Once the first corner is up it's easy to remove the protector. Unfortunately, however, I've noticed that it doesn't do that corner much good if I try to re-install the same protector. Oh well... thats why there's two per package I guess.
