you can't go from 2.2->2.1 like that, they have different kernels
you have to flash the sbf and that message doesn't mean anything
try restoring a 2.2 rom

Thank You for the reply D13, however I'm still stuck and confused.

E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command

I get the above message when I start the phone in recovery. Unfortunately I have no 2.2 backups, all I had was a 2.1 backup.

I guess my main question is if I can't get into the phone how do I fix this??? I can boot to recovery screen, however there is no way to get to my backups, and obviously I can't boot the phone regularly.

What should I do??

Thanks,

it doesn't mean anything

in clockwork try installing a zip from /clockwork/download and then find the 2.2 rom from rom manager

My only options when I boot to clockwork are:

reboot system now

apply sdcard:update.zip

wipe data/factory reset

wipe cache partition

THe above is my only options.

I tried apply sdcard:update.zip

then I got signature verification failed
installation aborted

If he went from 2.1 to 2.2 and did nothing else, I would assume he has no 2.2 backup... I made the same mistake the first day I went to Froyo... I did not back it up and tried to restore 2.1, also got me stuck at Moto logo...

I think now your only option is to .sbf..

Is there a way for him to reach clockwork recovery if he can't even load past the boot??

This morning o was groggy as 'givl' (move letters to the left) I turned my phone on and went back to sleep. I saw it was in clockwork when I woke up. I rebooted and re flyx boot was stuck.

So I just recovered. Everythings all gravy. But yeah OP, you may have to sbf

I also have the same problem the phone is completely frozen

The only choices i have are

reboot system now

apply sdcard:update.zip

wipe data/factory reset

wide cache partition

The only control I have is with the volume button to highlight and select one of the above choices

I have tried everyone with no luck

there is an error message at the bottom says

E :Can't open /cache/recovery/command

I have pulled the baterey and keep coming back to this screen any guesses

Thanks

Erik

Save yourself time and headaches and SBF. You cannot get into clockwork if you can't boot the phone into regular Android.
