Update : sbf not working like it did last time....now i get... on the X
MEM_MAP Blank
Service req'd
OK to program.

did the update somehow stop the old SBF file from working?
how long before a new SBF file is out?

The logistics of the update are unknown this early. Time will shed additional light on it's effects.

Have you tried doing a factory reset before attempting to SBF?

Try doing a battery pull then holding Home + Pwr.

EDIT:
Someone else seems to be having the same issue:
Bootloader Error Message

EDIT2:
After some research, Some people seem to be having success with restarting RSD Lite. Apparently in their case, RSD simply froze. Worth a try!

Hmm..

It still seems odd that only a few people have been having this issue.

Where did you get the SBF File? (I can only verify the one I personally uploaded)
Did you move the pst_flash.ini Patch to the RSD Directory?

I'm trying to find a common link between the two of you.

Froyo OTA bricked phone? - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum

it seems to be common issue for those trying to get back to 2.1 after getting the OTA

Ohh after.

I didn't catch that. Out of curiosity, why go back to 2.1 from the OTA?

I thought from what you said you had the OTA and were downgrading to 2.1 haha.

you should try factory resetting (Hold Pwr+Home) and SBF Flashing, as you might not have this issue.

Yeah this message came about an hour too late. I guess I'm screwed. Any idea how long this 2.2 SBF may take to come around?

No, Usually like 2 months, however, Birdman is working on a fix and based on his history, I wouldn't say very long. He's very reliable.

Wait, I take that back..

This tweet:
my "fix" wont work sadly, i was running tests to see if my idea would work when i figured out the signatures changed

Came BEFORE this one:
Please retweet, everyones about to wake up! DO NOT DOWNGRADE TO 2.1 SBF FROM THE 2.2 OTA, YOU WILL BE BRICKED! UNTILL WE GET A 2.2 SBF LEAK

I'm Afraid that means that all those with this issue are going to have to wait until the sbf is actually leaked.. which means an employee with access to the sbf would have to leak it to the public.

I had the same issue with the stuck on "M" screen and all I did was pull the battery out and put it back in and it booted fine.

I did a cache wipe, factory reset and finally a battery pull before everything worked lol

I'm glad I backed up my apps before doing this upgrade.

My DX was stock 2.1, no root, and it still stuck on the Motorola logo during the OTA update. Battery pull and even a fresh battery did not help, which apparently had solved the others people had brought in to the store I stopped by, so I also have a new phone coming (however, I had to pay for overnight rather than second day delivery).

At one point they asked if I had moved the phone during the update and I responded that I had moved it from one room to another. The Verizon rep said that they had encountered problems with previous Froyo updates for the Droid and Incredible when people moved the phones during the process. Apparently any glitch in the network or switch in the tower can cause this type of problem. So they suggested that I leave the phone sitting in one location and on a charger for any future updates.

Wonder what they'll do to fix it? Wouldn't a factory reset bring it back to life, in a pre-2.2 state?

Factory reset will not work. I am sure Verizon has all the tools needed to flash the new 2.2 bootloader and image. They will not flash it back to 2.1 anymore.

not sure if this is gonna help the SBF issue....https://sites.google.com/site/motosbf/droid-x-sbf-files

you can find all SBF files from 2.1 to 4.5.621 here.
