This will show you how to factory reset back to 2.1, Update to Froyo, Root & Deodex (to allow custom themes)
☢Important Notes☢
* Applying SBF will perform a factory reset and wipe all data off your device
* Do NOT attempt to SBF a OTA Froyo (hopefully we be available in future)
* I have tested this method and had no problems To Apply SBF
SBF INSTRUCTIONS: Install the RSDLite 4.7 program by double clicking on the program.
Move the pst_flash.ini file into the following folder --> Program Files/Motorola/RSDLite
2. Install the drivers that for Windows to recognize Droid X 32 Bit or 64 Bit
3. Unzip the SBF into a folder.
4. Open RSD Lite and find the UNZIPPED SBF
5. Put your Motorola Droid X in bootloader mode (With Device off, Press Volume Down and camera buttons then press power). Now connect the Droid X via usb.
6. Click start and sit back.
7. Device will no reboot automatically... You will need to remove battery to power down
8. Put Device into android system recovery recovery (not clockwork recovery)
9. Hold down home button and press power button until Motorola logo appears (continue to hold home button till you see android with exclamation point)
10. Use volume rocker to select wipe data factory reset
11. Press Application button (hard key to left of home button)
3. Made sure USB debugging is enabled (settings...applications...development)
4. Run doroot.bat
5. Will open a command prompt and begin rooting device
6. Wait for device to reboot itself then its complete
Manually Deodex Your DX (Allow Custom Themes like BigDX Serentiy)
1. Download xUltimate v2.2.2 (Created by xeudoxus)
2. Unzip xUltimate v2.2.2
3. Connect Droid X with usb cable and choose windows sync mode in usb connection type (located in drop down notification menu)
4. Run Main.exe
5. Run option 1. After option 1 is done, run option 2.
6. Now these well take a while. Run option 3.
7. IMPORTANT: After you have run option 3, you MUST navigate to the xUltimate folder and find "origi_frame" folder, and delete "guava.odex". It's a bad file, and interferes with deodexing process.
8. Now run option 4
9. Exit xUltimate, and put the phone in USB mass storage.
10. Go back into the xUltimate folder and copy "done_frame", and "done_app", and move them to the root of the sdcard.
11. Put phone back in to windows sync mode
12. Open a command prompt, and do the following:
Code:
adb shell su stop mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system cp /sdcard/done_app/* /system/app/ cp /sdcard/done_frame/* /system/framework/ rm /system/app/*.odex rm /system/framework/*.odex mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system reboot

The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to bignadad For This Useful Post:
2. Extract contents to a new folder on PC (I have mine in adroid-sdk-windows)
3. Goto control panel and open system properties (or right click my computer)
4. Go to Advanced settings
XP: Click the Advanced tab
Vista/Win7: Click Advanced system settings on the left
5. Click Environment Variables near the bottom
6. Double-click on Path in the first scroll box named User Variables
7. Enter the full path to the tools/ directory at the end of Variable Value text box - make sure to separate from existing text with a semi colon ;
8. Here is what the entire contents of my Variable Value text box
Code:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Windows Live;C:\Windows\system32;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\Sys tem32\Wbem;C:\Users\Addie\Desktop\android-sdk-windows\tools
9. Press OK and close remaining boxes open
9. Run SDK Setup.exe from C:\Desktop\android-sdk-windows\
10. If you get an error about not having Java SDK installed but you do, add the path to 'bin' within your Java installation location to the Path environmental variable as described above before the sdk entry you just made. (eg add "C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_20\bin;") This is likely to only be necessary where the 64 bit Java SDK is installed (obviously) on a 64 bit machine.
11. If it gives you an error about http go to settings and click on "Force http//....."
12. Unselect all options except for the USB driver
13. If you can't get the setup to work, download the USB-DRIVERS folder - HERE (Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7)
14. On your phone, click Settings > Applications > Development and make sure USB Debugging is on.
15. Plug your phone into your computer via USB cable (it needs to be on). It should say installing drivers if using Windows.
16. After it installs the drivers, goto the Start menu and type cmd into the search bar (Vista or higher) or click Run then type in cmd (XP) to open the command prompt.
Code:
adb devices
You should see a serial number pop up, it’s the serial number of your phone. This means you are all set. If you do NOT see a serial number, then you need to reinstall the drivers.
While the phone is still plugged in, open USBDeview and sort by manufacturer. Find all the HTC/Android drivers and uninstall them all. (Windows Vista requires program to be run as an administrator, otherwise files won't uninstall.)
Once all have been uninstalled, unplug the phone from the USB cable and plug it back in.
The correct drivers should reinstall automatically (check the drivers as they are installing, one should say ADB Device driver).
To check, go to Devices in your Start menu then click on the “Android Phone”. Click on the Hardware tab, and check the list of drivers for ADB Interface under Type.
Done! Now you can use ADB to alter your phone from your computer.
How to Use ADB Commands
1. Use windows Explorer to navigate to Tools folder within android-sdk-windows
2. Right Click and choose new shortcut
3. Enter this Location C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe
4. Click next and name whatever you like (Now you will have quick access to command prompt & it will open up to the right directory)
5. Open the command prompt shortcut just added
6. You should see this prompt C:\Desktop\android-sdk-windows\tools\>
7. Simply type adb shell and press enter and you will be brought to a $ prompt *If you are rooted you will see # prompt
8. Now you can type many different commands to manipulate your DroidX.... (Deodex, Root, Pull/Push Files, etc)

Just got the red theme last night and I love it but have a few ?'S. I can't get the phone icon to change from the original LPP icon to the serenity icon. Also I've seen a dolphin hd icon that looks exactly like your theme icons, is it in the theme or have you seen any links to similar icons? I thought the Droid 2 live wallpaper came with the theme, I had it before the theme but can't find it now. Bit what I want to know the most is if anyone knows where I can get the "metal eye" modified Droid 2 live wallpaper
Thanks elecga, I actually remember that now, I read it on xda-dev but that was weeks ago when I first found this theme. This theme is what made me root and deodex my phone.

All the launcherpro default icons have been themed so they should have changed when you installed the themed apk. The Droid 2 live wallpaper is included with the theme but its not installed by default.
After applying the zip package and restarting the phone, goto Files then goto the !BIGDX folder. Inside there is a whole bunch of themed apps, you choose which ones you want to install, including LauncherPro, Wallpaper, etc...
Let me know if you still have problems.

Do I need the apps uninstalled before I install the themed app,or do they need to be installed, or does it not matter?

Root explorer icon should be included in the file in the first post. Others will be included in next update.
The widgets in the pics are included with the paid version, LauncherPro+
I absolutely love this theme. Been using it for a few weeks now.
My question is though, how do we get the beautiful widgets skin? Download it through BW, get the latest version of the theme (I havent done this yet), or has it not been released yet? Thanks

Sorry, the BW clock and weather skins have not been released yet. I just need to make a couple small changes, should be ready soon.
Has the widget locker update been released? If so I've been trying to get it to work with no luck.
Also, elecga, the icons from your screenshots haven't been released have they?
The widget locker skin is in the first post, you need to know a little about pulling apks and signing but its the only way we can theme those particular paid apps.
The icons in the app drawer probably won't be released till those apps are themed and included in the package. I just got a head start with those icons, now I just need to tackle the rest

Are you sure you downloaded the full package by clicking on the picture? Should be a 40-50 mb zip file called BigDXSerenityRed0926.zip or whatever color you picked.
After that its pretty much like any other theme install. Just make sure you're browsing to the right zip file when you goto install from sdcard.

OK thats kinda what I thought. When it is available, will the skin be downloadable through BW itself, or will we have to apply the theme the same way as widget locker since its a paid app?

Thankfully BW lets you install a skin just by putting it in a folder on your sdcard so if it isn't available thru BW it will not be hard to apply.

tempted to try this, but I have allot of apps installed, and I have pictures I took for my background. Would this theme work well with a setup like that?

The theme only applies the system apps and framework automatically, the 3rd party apps you can install yourself so you decide if you want them themed or not. If the colors are too much, try the white one.
Just one more question... lol. So if I want to change colors I can just install the new update.zip right over my current theme, correct? Same goes for updates?
I tried installing the blue theme, but I noticed the text in my notification bar was black (meaning the time and the date when it is pulled down). Any ideas why? Obviously its hard to see black font on a black background and in the pictures the time is in white.

You are probably not deodexed properly. Instructions to manually deodex in first post.
I'm using Black Glass X, now, but I like the looks of this too. So, my problem is that I think I could become a themes whore. Is there a 12 step program for this?
quick question, i noticed today when I was messing with my home screens that the navigation app is no longer there. I thought I deleted it when I was removing bloatware, so I restored my phone to my original Deoxed state. After reboot, checked to see if navigator was there and indeed it was there and working. Reinstalled the Green Serenity and the navigation app was gone again.

Sorry, there was a problem with that app in the theme. It will be fixed in the next update. Maps/Nav has also been updated to the newest version that was released today. Look for a BIG Big update tomorrow or sat.
I'm installing this now, as we "speak." I'll let you guys know my thoughts. I'm a red-type guy.

Edit: went through all the motions and it just hung when installing. It woudn't even start. Two battery pulls and I'm back at my Black Glass X theme. Oh well. Can't even review this thing.

Glad you are on here now, I started posting comments on XDA just because of your theme. I made a donation today also, thank you guys for this awesome theme! I love your red theme, but I am using blue now because of my overall Dallas Cowboys theme.
I'm looking forward to the updates so I can get my LauncherPro plus theme back and get the Slacker heart fixed.keep up the great work and know we appreciate it!

Did you download the theme or the Widgetlocker&Rootexplorer skins? The actual theme is downloaded by clicking on the pic of the color you want, it should be a 40-50 mb zip file. You might as well wait for the next update tho.

Once again, a BIG Thank You from both of us
I tried to wait for the bugfix for LP which was supposed to come out Fri. night but it never showed. What I did was use the new 0.8.0.0 but I didn't theme the backgrounds like in the old version, the headers and footers are done, just not the backgrounds of the widgets. Those will be done as soon as the bugfix is released and a update will be put out.
Speaking of updates, they're uploading to the server and links should be up sometime in the morning. Here's a lil sneak peek. These are shots from a freshly restored 2.2 build thats been deodexed and nothing else installed except shootme and the Green theme.
The only apps not themed are:
NFS-I was going to do it but its a 90mb file and it would be a waste of space and bandwidth to include it in the theme for a icon.
Skype-Will probably be included in the next update
Androot-Maybe
Even though all system apps are themed in the app drawer it doesn't mean we are finished theming those apps, we just wanted to get the app drawer finished first since that's what people wanted More updates coming!
Also, themed Swype is included with matching tracers, Blur widgets, calculator, and much much more...

Um... er....uh.... I screwed up? hehehe.. missed that. DOH!
Ok.. I'll do it now, but one question. Once I install the theme, are there different steps to install the widgetlocker zip?
