First time poster here. I am working on a boot animation for the Droid X that features a clip from the 1986 animated movie of Optimus Prime blasting some Decepticons before his battle with Megatron.
Just have to fix a few things before I release it for download. I am trying to add audio but am having a problem. I load the audio file into the /data/local/ folder (as an mp3 file) but it doesnt seem to play. Can anyone help? Here is a video of the boot animation:
still have a little tweaking to do with frame rate and stuff... and the music in the video is just for youtube. its not the audio for the boot animation

Seriously, I'd go to the developer's section and post this question, if I were you. Whereas there are some serious hardcore geeks here, there are more serious developer type geeks there. Good luck!
EDIT: I notice you are using 928Droid BGX. So, you can simply install your boot animation over the theme? Apply zip file from SD card? Curious how this works. TIA.

You can use any boot animation you want with any ROM, I've changed mine several times.

Okee dokee.. I'll prolly forget and need to ask again if I ever want to use a custom boot animation.
Steven runs the other way and hides!
I just copied this from one of the sites that has a few different boot animations for the X.
"MUST BE ROOTED
The easiest way to install this is to use Root Explorer. Download the file and rename to bootanimation.zip. Copy the file and navigate to system/media. Change the permissions to R/W by clicking the button in the top right. Rename the existing bootanimation.zip to bootanimation.bak. Then paste the file in this directory. Change permission back to R/O. Reboot and enjoy the show."
If you put zip in system/media you need rename original bootanimation to .bak or delete it. If you put zip in system/local you don't have to deal with original bootanime. For some reason when phone boots it look into system/local first
All you have to do is put the boot animation in /data/local/ folder. I tried the .ogg file.. not working. I will keep researching this.. because I have seen other boot animation files with sound

I wish I knew how to use the audio also, I've got a nice setup to go along with the stock animation but I can't use it.

Can you forward me the URL to the site with boot animations? TIA.
On boot the X will look for a boot.zip in Data/local first. If you place one there it will use that animation and ignore the one in system/...... This way you can change animations without removing/renaming what was the to begin with ie: stock, flyx, tranq, 928 etc.. Just use root explorer.
