Default Finding .apk Files in my Nandroid

So I have created a backup file using ROM Manager. I am assuming that this file is what is referred to as a "nandroid?" I have now copied this file to my laptop. I am trying to find my .apk's. How do I go about doing this? Does it require a specific type of program? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks much!

As far as I know, the only way to retrieve things from nandroid backups is to decompress the .img of the system or data images.

Google unyaffs.exe.

I'm almost positive that you cannot just pull a specific apk from a nandroid. It compresses everything afaik.

Yet another reason why all rooted phones should have Titanium Backup

I've got TiB. I cannot find an .apk file for an app that I have. I have looked everywhere using Root Explorer. I just don't see how it is hiding that good. Any advice of what else I might do to find it?

...you could always make a nandroid backup of your current set up, load your old one, copy the missing apk's to your SD card, restore the current setup, and then install the apk's from SD
