Default The Ultimate Droid RC Beta. True AOSP, now without constant reboots?

Release: The Ultimate Droid RC Beta for Droid X | Android App Review

The file can be downloaded on The Ultimate Droid website.

I assume that this is built off of the same non-Moto framework as Cvpcs's work? I guess that he found a way around the whole "reboot when the phone locks" problem. I, for one, am psyched that this is finally happening. I figure that it's not long now until there's a true AOSP version of Rubix, Apex, and all of our other favorites as well.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

It states that the USB connection doesn't work. How do you do anything via the computer? For instance flash leaked updates and sbf if needed?

the usb can work if you hook the usb cable to your phone while it is off and then to the computer then power the phone up. This bug is being worked on as are the rest. In my opinion, Ultimate Droid is on its way to being the premier ROM for the DX. Give it time, the final release is in sight!

It's a release candidate but GPS, USB and video recording don't work?

Hmm... Sounds like a pre-beta to me.

Glad they're putting the work in and it may be stellar when they're finished - but I can't see deliberately and substantially crippling my phone when ROMs like ApeX run super smooth and fast and have all the features.

Da.a.a.a...a.aaaamnnnn!!! I just flashed Ultimate Droid RC2 last night, and all I can say is... Da.a.a.a...a.aaaamnnnn!!!!!

How freakin sweet it is to have a truely blurless ROM. I have never played with a device this smooth, fast, responsive.... ummm, anything!!! This is like watching Gene Kelly rollerskate down the sidewalk in 'Its Always Fair Weather'! Honestly, I see absolutely no reason to even mess with overclocking this ROM, it's as fast as you can possibly ever want/need it to be as is... I mean my God, it just doesn't get any better than this boys and girls.

Well, ok... it can get a LITTLE bit better. When RC3 comes out, and then the final release, they should clear up some of the nagging bugs in this version. Noteably the lack of GPS (not sure if it effects apps from the market or not) and the USB issue. The USB issue isn't all that bad though, if you plug the phone into the computer while it's off, then turn it on, you will be connected. It just won't recognize it if you plug it in while it's on for some reason. But I don't ever plug my phone into the computer anyway, so that's not an annoyance for me at all.

I will probably try out some of the other ROMs now (this was my cherry popper) to see how they stack up. It's hard to imagine anything slicker than this ROM though, there is not an ounce of blur in this ROM, and if you ask me, that's a good thing!
