Default Noob question I know (updating to 2.340)

I'm still on 2.3.15 and I was going to update to ApeX 1.3 after still being on RC2 today (yeah I've taken a forum siesta lately). I figured I could do it OTA and went to get the update to 2.3.340. Only problem was it downloaded fine the install just failed. I take it I probably have to do this manually? If so how?

if you are trying to get the ota while on rc1 it wont go through ,it will go through if your just rooted though,if you have a backup you made after root but before flashing a rom then restore it and try the ota it shoulod work ,if you dont have the backup then flash the 2.2 sbf
here are downloads and instructions
Droid X 2.2 Full SBF leaked - Download now
i also think you can get the .340 update zip and do it that way but am not sure
once your updated reroot using this

btw just a heads up (and i say this because you say you have not been on the forums lately) DO NOT try to flash 928 to deodex after you root you will brick ,apex and most other roms come deodex so all you need to do after root is flash apex

RSD Lite doesn't recognize my phone. Any ideas? Or any other solutions to getting my phone back to 2.2 so I can get the new update and ROM?

Make sure your phone is set to PC Mode and that USB Debugging mode is turned on.

Did you make any changes (themes, remove bloatware, etc) to the .320 before you tried to update to .340? Did you check the checksum on the .340 file to make sure your download was complete/not corrupted? What error do you get when you try to flash?

Can you reboot your phone into the bootloader (Turn on while holding down the camera button and volume down)? Then connect the USB and see if RSD Lite will recognize it.

Yeah, did that a few times too and still nothing. Bootloader says battery is fine and ready and everything.

Is there another way around this since RSD Lite isn't working? Would it be easier for me to just unroot and run the update (or won't it let me since I'm on a custom ROM with no bloatware?)? I don't care if I have to go back to a factory reset do the update and then reroot, nbd really.

it may sound stupid but make sure you have the right drivers installed. also use rsd 4.8. seems to work better. and try your phone in several ways, pc mode, charge only, try them all.

Changed one of the config setting to first come first serve. Oddly enough I tried that on 4.7 and it didn't work. Thanks for the 4.8 upgrade tip lol

Ok I managed to brick it and unbrick it and it appears that I'm backed to stock since my custom ROM wasn't on there but I can't run a system update, it's unavailable and apparently it wants me to call verizon because, even though all my stuff is on my phone, it can't access my account?
