So I'm a total n00b, I just rooted my DX today. I used the one click z4 root app, which was really easy, and now I have a bunch more functionality and life is good.
However, the z4 doesn't seem to have much of a presence online, and I can't find any themes that I'm positive will be compatible. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Alternatively, can someone let me know if I should switch to a different mod?
You will loose root after doing this, but simply use the Z4root tool again, and then look for ROM's like GummyJar or Apex.
Also, if you want to make life TONs easier since your so new, go DL ROM Manager, and that way you can DL ROM's right from your phone without having to DL them on your comp, and transfer and do all that jazz.
Device(s): Galaxy Nexus, Droid X running Liberty 3v2.0 with ICS theme, and HP Touchpad with CM7 Alpha 2.1 and H

Hey, I resent that
I don't consider myself a noob, but I use Z4Root, and so do a lot of other people that aren't noobs. Why would you want to make rooting your phone a difficult process when it can be done very simply with Z4Root?

I use it too.
But I don't think you realize how many people mess their phones up doing simple things.
Z4 is merely a tool to give nubs root VERY EASILY.
However, it is not a ROM, which is what you are talking about.
I myself would first do an SBF flash.. follow the guide I quoted to get up to date to use the latest ROM's...

I'm a noob and have a question on this. Do I have to sbf flash .340 if my phone already has .340 on it?

Quick question guys,
a friend just rooted his X using Z4. (I have a D2 and am not familiar with this).
How can he boot into recovery with the X? I was trying to tell him about nandroid backups.

Download droid x bootstrapper. Click bootstrap recovery then reboot recovery.
Yeah I'm already on .340, so I'm all set. Thank you all for all your help! I am now running GummyJar and I LOVE it. It turned out to be really easy after you know what everything is.
