Default Running Liberty? Poll of 1st Impressions...

Downloaded and flashed LibertyX v1.0 last night. So far I have to say that I likey the boot animation better than GummyJAR's, although it's nothing really super special or anything, just a cool looking bird.

Speed seems to be on par with Gummy on my device. I don't notice an advantage on either side, dead even I'd say. Haven't tried out any of the options yet. The theme seems to be gingerbread. Are there built in themes that you can access on the fly? Seems like that was something I heard.

Will have to play around with it some more. Only time will tell if it is as stable as GummyJAR was. I had zero reboots the entire time I ran GJ. If I get any on Liberty I will be sure to post it on here.

To change the themes on the fly you have to download the app Liberty Toolbox from the market. This has the themes and a bunch more goodies I have seen.

I am getting ready to flash this right now. I have been running ApeX flawlessly for almost a month so it is time to see what else is out there. I have my backup ready for ApeX just in case.

If I had unlimited money, I'd have two phones, one to screw around with and load every ROM I was curious about on, and one phone that could, you know, actually be a stable, normal phone.

Alas, such is not the case so I will rely on you fine folks to be beta testers. I like GummyJAR very much, but would only ever consider installing a v1.0 ROM if I was on vacation and had lots of time to fix it if something went asunder. Definitely post your impressions as you explore more of it!

I like the toolbox/"liberty settings" if you go into your phones settings. Like "Notify for ROM patches" Like "Lock Screen settings", "Recovery mode setting", "Camera shutter sound", "voice input output" only thing is Im not sure If I should try to install watermark 2.5. again???

Well I wouldn't install anything that isn't in the toolbox. Is that where you found it? I just remember seeing where they said not to install any themes from other ROMs. And while this is made to go over top of Gummy 2.5, I still wouldn't consider a theme for GJ 2.5 as a compatible theme for LibertyX unless it's in the toolbox.

I haven't grabbed the toolbox as yet. Will do so now.

Both Froyo keyboard and swype are very nice. Bigger in size I would say also. The speed is slightly faster than Gummy2.5 (at least on my phone). The tool box is a great addition, never done before from what I used on other roms. Like the fact that on the tool box you can change anything from animations, to themes, to boot logo. It also has a bunch of other extras like add free, cache clean up and other. It didn't even cross my mind not to install ROM unlike others (TranQ i.e.), this been a Tom built from Gummy and scripts from JRummy I was sure it would run smooth.

BTW I'm running Linear theme and switching to other themes to try them out.

Toolbox is KICK ASS!!!! I think this thing is going to convert me 100% from GummyJAR. Sooooo many themes to choose from. I love that they added UD, I put on that poll of which themes we would like to see up in Liberty that I would love to see the UD theme. If they stuck that in there per my request, then I'll double my donation!

lol

It's better than GummyJAR just for the toolbox. Don't notice a huge difference in speed but haven't played with it very long. Might be a little faster. The stock yellow and black theme is butt ugly (IMO) but there are lots of themes easily accessible in the toolbox, which is very convenient. Will look forward to getting the black aosp theme back on my device. Tried UD for a while, now downloading Revolution Remix.

I'd try that first...make sure you're not doing a ton of other stuff while the themes are downloading, it could do something to corrupt the file I guess. I have been doing light texting, emailing, etc. while downloading.

The base of the ROM is GummyJAR with added apps/scripts, so it should probably run just the same. If it seems like it's running a little faster, it's most likely the simple fact that it's a fresh install. Bugs should be rather minimal since all the major stuff is simply GummyJAR.

Quoted from Kejar from another forum, hope this helps.

Guys, the server is still getting hammered so themes may take forever to download ATM.. If while downloading a theme you begin doing something else you may corrupt your zip file.. If you have downloaded themes but they did not finish downloading correctly, go to your SDcard via file manager and delete the themes files out of the Liberty/downloads folder and try again later after things settle down.

This is also true for add-ons

How's the downloads going now? Best to wait? This would be my first "cherry-busting" ROM.

Coming from Fission 2.5.7, I can't speak much on the speed compared to GummyJar. I CAN, however, say it feels much snappier and cleaner than any ROM I've used (including Fission, although the difference is pretty minimal because Fission is pretty damn fast too).

Loving all of the settings, the Toolbox, the animations, the lack of Blur, and pretty much everything else. Running stable, and with my CPU at lowered voltages, I'm seeing (so far) some pretty impressive battery life. Plan on tinkering around with some themes while I'm at work today. Oh, the joys of being a "lab assistant" in a college study lab. :P

Just downloaded from http://bit.ly/fzNF4r in 1-2 minutes.. so it doesn't seem like too much of a hammered mirror.

Anyone try going to this from the latest rubix, do you need to wipe data? Do y you need to sbf first? How much slower is it then rubix 1.9.5.

Just fyi b4 people try to flame me rubix is also just gummyjar but it has a but ton of system speed tweaks added on top.

I'm running liberty now. I have to add it to my list of recommended rom for newbies. It's easy and feature packed. I don't know how much faster it is than GJ, as it seems pretty similar to me.

The significant thing is that the talents of the JRummy and Gj have been married in this and it shows. This is a "must try" rom for us and is a step forward for all DX modders. This is a tip top rom.

Bravo devs. I will be sending a donation.

Personally I wasn't sure if I was going to keep it or not because I was never all that concerned with the extra's, I just wanted the fastest ROM possible that was nice and snappy.

But seeing as it seems to be just as fast as GJ AND has all the themes and all that built right into it, theb I don't see any reason to switch back. At least not at the moment.

I

I'll give this one a week to sink in, then I'll flash Gummy again real quick and see if it feels any faster/slower after getting accustomed to Liberty.

In my opinion Liberty, GummyJAR, and Fission are quite a bit faster/snappier than ApeX 1.3.1.

in my inexperienced opinion it seems to me that;

-liberty isnt any faster then a clean install of fission/gummy....i also felt when i played with gummy and moved its animations to fission that a lot of gummy's "speed" was snappiness in the animations that i could get a bit of just by copying the animations to fission.

-i really have to wonder if at most (dont get me wrong, its no fun if we dont play) until some huge breakthrough comes through or we move on to another device we are only gonna make small steps in improvements through tweaking here and there and that roms just tend to use different pieces of the same puzzle (of course).

-i did notice a bit of lag on my last fission install (attributable to anything) but ill be interested in seeing if liberty shows any lag over time or running it.

-it seems to act stable just as a clean initial install.

-where i think this rom may stand out (depending as i havent even tried the extras yet) is in the extras....jrummy seems to have some good stuff and do well at supporting his apps. if the bugs stay out of the extras there could be plenty of playing and tweaking here.

again only opinion and i could be easily swayed with some facts.

i like it thus far and think ill probably run it longer then i did gummy, just to see how it goes.

oddly enough the yellow, which i initially found ugly, is kinda a nice change of pace.

ok so i just installed Liberty, and its the first custom ROM i've ever run...ever....lol...

im quite excited to be doing some messing around....

first of all i want to say the toolbox idea freakin rocks!...i love that they included the Blur camera in there as it totally destroys the camera that comes with Liberty....

now...onto performance...i have nothing to compare it to other than stock Blur running LPP and overclocked to 1.15ghz...

everything is SUPER fast...except...it seems like switching between home screens is a little slower...its not like its lagging, but the actual animation is just slower...in LPP (and other launchers like Go Launcher) there is an option to speed this process up...is such an option available in liberty???

I installed Liberty earlier today and so far I'm liking it... Except it changed my wallpaper that I used for Gummy and no force closes Launcher Pro when trying to change wallpapers from there and force closes Gallery when using "set as." Also just noticed as I was posting this, I did a couple mods then rebooted and it only boots into clockwork. gonna try to flash it again. If anybody has any ideas please let me know. The mods were the font changing and the notification bar text.

Edit: Scratch everything... sort of. Phone booted up fine after the third try and wallpapers now work. However, it did not change my font or notification bar text. So any ideas on what could have caused it's weird behavior earlier?

Edit again: Think I'll just stick to one mod per reboot :P

Totally agree!

Have to say I agree with you as well on all points here. This is a VERY nice start. Its running just as fast for me as Fission 2.5.7 Will be interesting to see how this ROM and the toolbox goodies develop.

Thanks to kejar and jrummy!

On my X, Liberty flat out smokes both Gummyjar2.5 and Apex..In fact the speed is right there with Ultimate droid RC2,which is insanely fast, but not refined at all... I think I may have a bad D/L of gummyjar...it was never noticeably faster than Apex for me....I loaded liberty fresh, not over gummyjar...I NEVER load without wiping both data and cache....The few minutes to reload apps and set up accts is well worth the fresh install.I am loving this ROM,I have a new favorite....

yes it does...mine says DROIDX Liberty right now...just MAKE SURE what you typed is not more than 16 characters including spaces...

I think i may have found a bug...

can someone try making a phone call...hitting the home button during the call and then trying to pull down the notification bar??...

when i try this my notification bar starts to slide down, the screen fades to black and then comes back on with the notification bar in the normal place...

I've been having this issue too. When I changed the animations, after I backed out to the home screen, my wallpaper was different and it LP forced closed when I tried to change it. Reboot and all is fine.

Its the light sensor for the phone call (so that the display would go dead as you held your phone to your head during a call) that you keep swiping your finger past as you're attempting to pull down the notification bar.

Did both and nothing. Under 16 chars "Andrew's DX." And I did not have a problem with the notification bar. Just got off the phone after trying this.

Are you changing the text, saving, and then rebooting the phone? I just did it and it worked for me.

I can't get it to upload the UD theme at all. I've tried several times, as soon as I click it, it boots right into clockwork and then says it can't open the folder on the SD card, update failed. When I tried it with Nextheme it downloaded the theme for about 15 seconds, then kicked me into clockwork and it went fine. So it seems for some reason it's skipping the step to download it from the cloud first with UD. That sucks, I really wanted that theme.

Anyways, what is the mod to get the circular battery icon?
