Default Insane battery life with Apex 1.4

I have had my Droid X off the charger for right at 12 hours and I am at 80% battery life. This is my favorite ROM!!!!!

Nice to have a ROM with all the features and great battery life.

Again, thanks for the great work!!!!

When I take my phone (with extended battery) off the charger before bed and check it in the morning (8 hours later) and it's 90%, that's good. I think I've even seen 100% before, but that's been awhile.

Apex 1.3.1, Liberty 1.5 with battery patch and Focused all give me the 90% in the morning on most days.

I have had the best luck with Apex 1.4. 1.31 did well also, but I was on Liberty 1.5 so long I forgot what good battery life was like. Even with the patch, my battery was taking a hard hit. 12 hours and my battery would be 50% or less and usually nearing 30% by the time I put it back on the charger at night.

I am running the extended battery as well and couldn't stand it that my battery was draining down so fast. That is why I got the extended battery to begin with, to have longer life.

I forgot to mention that 90% when I get up and 80-90% when I get off work (harder to control if I had calls), means a good battery day.

yeah It's pretty awesome! I cant remember if I charged my phone last night. I don't think I did (friday nights get crazy here lol). And so if that's true my phone just now died from two days of pretty moderate use! way better than other roms I'd say.

I can alternate between 3-4 days with little use to just 6-8 hours if my wife gets her hands on it. I don't understand being able to play Jewels for 6 hours straight.

Final update on the battery from my Saturday usage. When I finally put my X on charger at midnight, after being off charger for 17 hours, it still showed 80% battery life. All I can say is forgot Liberty

I can't believe I handed my wife my phone to read a funny email and she actually handed it back to me without running the battery down first.

80% after 17 hours is about what I get with an extended battery with a rom that doesn't abuse my battery and light use. (8 hours overnight + 8 hours at work.)

I think you will be impressed with battery life, especially if you are coming from any of the Liberty ROMs.

Changed that last line there...meant ROM's, not theme.

I am running Liberty 1.5 and I must say the battery life is pretty bad, I figured I could deal with it but if I don't have access to a charger mid day, my phone would probably be blinking red by 6 or so. I do like the themes and toolbox Liberty has to offer, I only tried ApeX for a few hours so I don't think I really got to know much of it, maybe I will go back and try it out sometime soon. I finally got my theme the way I want it so I am just going to enjoy that till I get bored, or until battery life just gets annoying

I am getting better battery life with Apex 1.4 but not really touching what you guys are getting. Did you do any more customization? Are there any apps I don't need that I should kill?

I hope you guys aren't assuming I have Apex 1.4 installed. I'm running Focused right now and battery life is comparable to my previous installs of Apex 1.3.1 and Liberty 1.5 w/ battery patch. Sorry, I'm slow to install Apex 1.4. Focused is too fast and running too good right now.

Hmmm I wonder if I should try Focused. My battery life is better with ApeX but not awesome.

Is there anything special you guys did when you went from Liberty 1.5? I installed apex over Liberty (formatted, etc) and my battery life is still the same as it was on Liberty. Within 2 hours of having my phone off the charge, my battery is easily down to 70% without using it.

I thought about doing an SBF and then installing Apex but not sure if it will help.

I also notice Apex 1.4 seems slow and sluggish compared to 1.3.1 Maybe that has something to do with it.

I can never use ApeX for very long. Something about it just seems unpure (blur).

Ultimate Droid RC2 is actually giving me the best performance and battery life of any rom. I have gone back to it so many times (and am on it currently. After a full day its at 50%.

What the hell?! Do you guys walk around with a cell antenna on your backs? I get 24 hours on the standard battery...maybe a few more if I have a light usage day. How much does the extended add?

Ideally (esp with the extended battery), with your battery at 100% and still plugged into the charger, you'd clear the battery stats (under advanced in recovery), boot into android, unplug the charger, run the battery dead, charge it back up and then check your battery life.

What this does is let your phone determine how big the battery is and how long it lasts.

I just found the patch for liberty and applied it with no problems. You guys should check it out, I am hearing really good things about it.

imoseyon: I Got a ZIP

I liked apex a lot for the battery life, but the speed of liberty has me still on board with it. Also the rotary lock, but I just got widgetlocker so that is a moot point. If this new patch does what it says it does I think I will leave the thing alone for a while. If not I will be back to apex, will let you guys know how it works.

Just wanna say I dont really have too much of an issue with liberty battery life. When in idle it does just like apex, but when I am using it heavily it seems to go through battery really fast.

I got my hands on an extended battery two evenings ago and let it charge over night. Unplugged the phone at 8am two days ago and just now hit 50% with a normal amount of use. Apex is doing me right.

how are you guys getting such awesome battery life from this ROM? I love it but I was getting more on liberty 2.0.1! I have extended battery, I use Juice Defender and AMM and I only average about 10 hours before it completely dies. On Liberty 10 hours would get me about 30-50% depending on usage.

I haven't been on Froyo or Apex 1.4 for a long time, but I did get great battery life on it. One thing, did you calibrate your battery after you installed Apex? Try that and see if anything changes. You also might consider moving up to Gingerbread, as you will get better battery life on it.

why do we get resurrected threads??

if your on a moto build of froyo or gb, your battery life should be excellent with apex, on cm7 its kinda a hit and miss really.

Hey Guys,

New to the forum...... I flashed an apex rom RC 4 2.0.0 and most I get is like 5-7hr batttery life if i use it for the whole day; thus i have to charge it daily before going to sleep. I hear people saying oh yea my apex goes for like 3 days without charge...I would love this feature so much. I also have no clue how to do or get extended battery if someone could show me how I flash/whatever to get that. If someone responds to this and sees that I need to be on APEX 1.4 to get that battery affect can someone send me the zip. I know i can find it on google but i almost scared myself to death by bricking it and i unbricked it....but still. So if anyone can do that it would be awesome. Oh btw My Apex 2.0.0 Is OC 1.25 and is still the same speed as stock.....If someone could help me with that too...... I have a Droid X.. And can someone also add to the response how i can use my phone to my full potential?

Hi swiftly, most of the time your battery life will depend on how you are using it. Most people getting a day -3 days don't use their phone a ton. The more stuff you have syncing often, the longer you keep the screen on will drain it quicker

Is there still any way that i could max my phone's ability? With Apex of course. Up on the post people were talking about extended battery and etc.... Can you also help me on the overclocking issue. Like i said i really want to max my phone's potential ....kinda push it to the max. My screen timeout is 1 min and i use it to basically try to max my phone out...so browser, youtube vids....etc....

how old is your battery? might be worth replacing/upgrading to the extended battery if your battery is over a year old

Thanks for the battery advice. I just have a few more question. When i OC people said oh i can't give you a definite ghz because every device is different....so just see what's stable....Stable is really ambiguous for me. What are the effects of stable? How do you know if your device is "stable"?

Stable is rather ambiguous. My opinion is that if you aren't having reboot or lag on apps, then you aren't OC or UV too much. That is also rather simplistic, but if you phone locks up and reboot itself, you have gone too far.

Easy answer for OC is to just pay the few dollars for quickclock advanced. Very easy to use and it does the work for you.

There is nothing even close to being as good as Quickclock. It is completely automatic, and can conserve battery, while improving speed. Should come with every ROM.

Well the thing is that when you do quickclock and you get it calibrated automatically and press overclock and choose the profile you want. they give you number + vsel......... Ok that's great! What the heck does that mean. Does that mean you are overclocked. does that mean your phone is just going to adjust to that whenever it wants? what the heck,

The number is the MHz setting. The vsel is the voltage setting. I think that tests your phone, bit doesn't set them.

Exactly, how do you apply them. If this is just explanatory information that really doesn't overclock your phone.....

If you bought it first you click calibrate. This will test your phone to find out its limits. Once your phone reboots and the tests finish you would click Overclock. In the middle of the screen slightly to the right will be " Profile: [none]" you push that and you will see 4 options available that it has determined for your phone. Default, High Speed, Battery Saver, and Balanced. Pick which you want and then overwrite profile/save profile

I got it. Did exactly what you said. Only get like 5-6 hours. If you do it right can you make it get up for like 2 days or so?

You set it to battery saver?

Next time at around 5% battery left can you look at the battery stats and tell us what is using it?

5-6 hours is some serious drain.

How old is your DX, or more importantly how old is it's battery? What kind of battery life were you getting before loading Apex?

A lot of us that still have the DX have replaced the battery recently or are limping along until upgrading to new phones. I replaced mine about a month ago with a $4 new OEM battery and it made a huge difference in the battery life.

If your phone is in that 1.5-2 year old range, and still has the original battery, and that would be the first place I'd look.
