Most likely done like this so they can use it on multiple phones, not just the X.
Certainly that is the reason...but if I can do it lounging on my couch with a MacBook Pro and Photoshop while sipping some iced tea and watching TV....certainly a Moto dev could bang out something nice for each new phone....
I mean...they reused the SAME boot ani for the DX2!...THAT is weak sauce...
Edit: Im thinking of adding the word GingerBlur under DROID X...it would animate in the same way...what do you guys think??

i had no doubt that it did...but his will just say "Droid" instead of Droid X ...and after making the Blue Droid Pro...i have the blue locked down as an automated process now...it took about 5 minutes to do everything...

Yeah, I'm going to have to learn how to use Photoshop one of these days.....
Oh I know he's using Photoshop. I was talking about the other programs you need to extract the zips, resign files, etc. I've been reading up on it but sorry to say, it all still just confuses me and I can't get a handle on it.

I think I need visual aids......lmao.
If you are just pulling the pngs to modify them, you can pull them out with 7zip or winrar, modify them, and put them back in when you're done, and that's it. If you are going to make other changes like how fast the animation loops, etc., it's a little bit more involved.

That sounds easy but what if I want to change, let's say, the color of widgets. Is it the same process? or is that also more involved? And for the life of me I can't seem to get the damn resign thing to work.
Check you out! Very nice Metfanant!
I love to learn new stuff. sometimes it gets addictive. I wish I had more time to do this kind of stuff. Now, when you get all popular like bo, we can say we knew you back in the day.
Keep up the good work!

That depends.....a lot of times yes, but if it requires xml edits, it gets quite a bit more involved.

Oh, that reminds me, I miss faber...
He's been MIA since he got banned for a few days about a month back......he's probably mad at the Moderaters here, not the newly appointed ones of course
It's probably going to be a while before he comes back, if he ever does.

That would be awesome but i wouldnt even know where to begin with this phone. I dont want to root it if it will keep me from getting the OTA. But once GB comes to it im wanting to root it. I havent really looked around much about rooting and all the things people have figured out. So for now im just gonna wait. But thanks though Metfanant. Maybe you should just go buy a X2
Keep it up met. This is what we need while we are killing time waiting to see what happens with the ota. We need more variety in our droid diet.....lol....nice work metfanant.

I like it just how it is. Don't know if this is possible but is there a way to create an app like JRummy's root tools so we can switch back and forth between your boot animations? I would donate for sure if you are willing to accept donations. Or maybe see if you can have your boot animations added to an existing app?
