Default Replacement came with Gingerbread...How to root?

So I got my replacement today because my GPS was not working at all on my old phone, even after multiple master resets.

Anyways, the new phone came with gingerbread. What are the steps to rooting it? Do I need to SBF back to .340 and do the regular fro yo to gingerbread method (Part one and Part 2) or is there a better way to do this?

Thanks,
iRM

I'm getting a replacement phone for the same reason. My phone started acting up last week some time where my GPS refused to find a GPS satellites (keeps showing as "Searching for GPS" in Google Navigation). Is this what yours was doing? I did a factory reset, upgraded to .596, SBF'd back to .340, and nothing solved it. I downloaded GPS Test, and it could never find any satellites.

Did you guys try using your navigation indoors or outside? The reason I ask is because mine will do the same thing inside the house but outside it all works perfectly. Just sayin, locations plays a roll here.
