I dunno. Maybe our phones were not as phucked up as everyone else? I have had the 3G/1X every so often, so maybe it will fix that? I plan to keep an eye on my phone regarding that. I have not received any stronger signal though. Still the same dbm in the same places Im at. Work and home.

EDIT: What CM7 build are you on Airmaxx?

dbm is better now, maybe this newest baseband provides a more accurate readout.
The other thing I noticed is since I upgraded my radio, I haven't had any screwy in-call phone behavior and/or dropped calls. (Hard to tell whether or not the screwiness was from the previous radio, or the nightly build itself, we are in beta and must be kept a possible factor, or the fact I am using a REFURBED certified like new DX. Ugh)
My call quality has shot through the roof, it wasn't bad before, but it wasn't perfect.

Man I love when you buy a brand new phone....then have a problem later on down the road, and VZW thinks it okay to send you a "certified like new, use to be someone else's problem phone" to you.
My sarcasm is so strong the scent is nearly choking me to death.

There are many variables to consider...
Everyone's DX is going to perform differently in some aspect.
Kind of like no two people are or behave in identical ways.

Back to more testing and tinkering =)

Went from this to MIUI to Shuji and I think I wanna go back to this as MIUI has some inconsistency problems with its weekly updates and Shuji's not doing anything for me. But I think I'm gonna gold off for a bit because I'm going to a Foo Fighters Concert and I wanna record it in 720p with the concert audio setting

I've seen better signal at work (metal building inside of a metal building) where I used to be in 1x most of the day.

It's a unofficial/custom build by RevNumbers. He doesn't have any qualms using Moto files for fixes.

Not sure. I haven't been following CM7. I've been on OMGB since the morning after the initial (broken) release :P

Yes. A small issue has turned up that wasn't in the official nightlies with the fixes flashed afterword. Netflix does not work for some reason. All other streaming video seems to work just fine for me but Netflix isn't.

So what is so special about them apart from having the torch and camera fix included? Netflix does not bother me as I dont use it.

I don't think much. It is just so that everything works in one flash. Oh, and is the camcorder fix in the official yet? The recording isn't all squished like it was before..... still not 720p I don't think

Another thing included in the unofficial nightlies is the battery fix. A certain xml file was fixed to better report battery use. I'm on the unofficial nightly and I can attest that it does work.

I'm half tempted to try this out again.

Any chance of getting the xml in a flashable zip that'll work on the other 2nd-init ROMs? I'd love that XML fix on OMGB. I prefer the stock launcher to be honest.

EDIT: Does anyone know if this works on the DX http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=933517 (Just the launcher, not the Mod)?

HERE is the power_profile.xml file that was edited for the battery fix, I pulled it from the unofficial nightly for August 15 and uploaded it to mediafire. Maybe someone can create a flashable zip with it....nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Interesting. May have to try this out again. As soon as I get a rom set up I switch back to another. A vicious cycle.

I could always use Root Explorer to apply it, right? If so where's the file located originally?

FWIW, the "battery fix" doesn't really increase the battery life that I have seen. I've read it just changes the reporting so that it reports correctly but some people are having different results. I use my phone heavily when at work and I still drain about 10%/hr before and after the fix was put in place.

He probably pulled it from framework-res.apk, if that is the case, you won't be able to do it with root explorer.

A flashable zip to replace an xml file inside framework-res.apk? That's not possible AFAIK.

Since they are the same Rom, you could probably just pull the framework from the RevNumbers build and use that...

Not sure but you can't put a file into an .apk file (which is basically an zip file). You can only put a file in a directory.

Also, unless I did something wrong, OMBG's power_profile.xml is exactly the same.

I've been a flash-a-holic today. Went from Miui to revnumber's unofficial cm7 but left because of the Netflix issue. At lunch I flashed Liquid Gingerbread 2.6. Left it because I kept getting my launcher wanting to close or wait. Was told that CM7 nightly 40 didn't have any wifi issues or Netflix problems...so currently I'm on it. So in the span of 10 hrs I have been on 4 different ROM's and set each up from scratch. I was bored at work. If the new miui release fixes a few things I'll be back to it.

I've been poking around some other threads and it looks like something in the official nightlies broke Netflix because it doesn't even work on the latest official.

The latest unofficial broke netflix. I'm was on it to try out the"battery fix". I'm now on the latest official to compare battery life. Netflix works just fine for me.

"Now that we have a proper 2nd-init that doesn't give a crap what kernel it's running on, the next step is to determine a good upgrade path from the existing CM4DX to the new variant with an updated kernel. This will involve LOTs of testing, and updating libraries and files, which could take a bit to determine, but should be on the horizon.

Who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and updating the libs will fix some of the existing camera problems? (maybe? please?)"

Glad to hear 2nd-Init has evolved and that a proper 2nd Init has been developed to work on any kernel.
Great news if you ask me. =)

I'm interested in how Cvcps plans to tackle the camcorder issue. Each OEM has come up with their own solution (since AOSP doesn't appear to have 720p).

I'm gonna tackle it by making a Nandroid of a stock ROM with the blur camera

I know this was already posted somewhere, but I couldn't find it by searching, and I'm not going to read through 50 pages of thread again... :X

Brightness slider in the notification bar: why won't it come up, what am I doing wrong?

Settings-display-brightness-automatic brightness-unchecked
settings-cyanogenmod settings-display-automatic backlight-enabled unchecked-use custom unchecked
Settings-cyanogenmod settings-interface-status bar tweaks-status bar brightness control checked

Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I guess I'm looking for a slider like on miui, is it hiding somewhere and I just have to know where to slide?

It's not a slider. Place your finger in the middle of the status bar (don't drag the shade down to the bottom, just put your finger on it), and drag your finger left and right to make it dimmer or brighter.

I don't like that. For one, I have my status bar hidden so I have to pull it down, pull it back up, and then try to find 'the magic spot' that actually changes the brightness! And it seems kinda jerky, and I can't 'see' where the brightness is now! I like to keep it just below medium unless I'm out in the sun. Unless I'm paying close attention I forget I bumped it up and then I kill my battery even faster!!!

There is a lovely 3/8" strip below the power buttons, above the "notification/verizon wireless" strip that is just BEGGING for a slider!

Yep, it's not perfect for sure. I found it adequate, though, once you get used to how it works.

You can always just configure the widget in the notification bar that controls brightness to use a few brightness levels that you like.

Question HELP ME ROOT MY DROID PRO and FLASH IT.

Hello everyone, I am a cricket customer with a Huawei. HOWEVER, my friend just switched from using a Verizon Droid Pro to an iPhone 4 on Verizon, and he GAVE me his DRoid Pro. He RESET it to Factory Settings. Now I want to root it, but when I turn it on it goes to the Verizon Activation screen. Does anyone know how to get around that? I have Android SDK on my Windows PC. I can link it to the PC and see what files are on it, but it isn't rooted. HOW CAN I ROOT THIS AND THEN FLASH IT?

I have rooting experience as my Huawei runs Cyanogen Mod7.

OKAY UPDATE: I went to YouTube, watched how to Hard Reset a Droid Pro R+M+Power, but that just lets you reset the phone, not get around Activation. So, more YouTube and I found if you tap (starting w/upper left) all four corners, like twice in a row, it bypasses the Activation screen. Then I downloaded z4 root 1.3.0 to my computer, USB it onto the Droid and VOILA I have a rooted Droid Pro, that will only connect to WiFi but cannot text or anything else since no service is connected.

NOW - Who knows how to Flash a Droid Pro to Cricket?
Thanks

WRONG!!! Z4 does not root Droid Pro after latest Update. So, I am working with my phone I have tried DoRootWin, Z4Root and I am about to try easyroot. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

They finally have a proper camera fix that should be included in one of the next Nightlies.
