How to change read only file attribute

I am trying to change my boot animation file...rename it and then copy the new one into the system>media directory and I keep getting read only file using Root Explorer. I cannot get Root Explorer to change the attribute. How do you change it?

At the top of root explorer there is a button that's grey in color. Tap it and it will toggle from read/only to read/write.

If that doesn't work... it means your ROM is controlling it... for example in CM7 you can find it under the CyanogenMod Settings somewhere in there... I've had the problem before with Root Explorer not enabling Read/Write and I had to find the settings elsewhere.

Thanks for the tip! I am back on GB Darkslide now. Well, bummer. Got it. The button is called Mount R/W.
