Already have a Superuser.apk...but not the right one
I've made a small mess of things that I hope someone can help me fix. Some time ago I had the phone rooted, and apparently I installed the "Superuser.apk" app that isn't a root app, it manages root privileges. Unfortunately, I installed it in some location that only root can get to.
Now I'm trying to root again, and it fails because there already is a Superuser.apk on the phone. I tried changing the name of the package, but (no surprise) the phone is actually reading some metadata inside the package, which is a binary file.
I got the bright idea that maybe the apk is just a zip file. It is, so I went in to see if I could edit the name...low and behold, all the xml files are binary. Maybe they're encrypted or something.
In any case, I was wondering if someone could point me to how to rename this package so I can get my phone rooted again. (Or how to remove the existing Superuser.apk, or another root exploit, but I figure those are less likely.)
Thanks for your help.
