My first DX completely lost 3G capability after I rooted it. I ended up getting a warranty replacement. You might be in the same boat?

Use the .602 SBF file and flash it on your DX. Either use RSDLite or use the Linux boot disc method. That will get you to an absolute fresh-out-of-the-box stock state (i.e. unrooted and all that jazz). You can then take the OTA update to get you back up to .605. Hopefully that will fix your 3G problem and if not Verizon will be none the wiser that you were ever rooted in the first place.

rooting cannot make you lose 3G connectivity, all rooting does is give you administrator access to your phone....

the same tool you used to root, can unroot, but simplest method for you would be to sbf, and then you will get 3G back

BUT, Verizon will CLAIM that rooting was the cause of the hardware issue.

and you simply tell them as i did that they are nothing but a bunch of idiots if they think giving yourself administrative rights on your phone will cause it to lose 3G. verizon knows its a load of farse, i always told them i root to get rid of their crap they put on the phone.. no rep has ever tried to battle me on that one

Definitely follow VoidedSaint's link above for a tutorial on using the SBF file. It will overwrite everything on your phone and return it to a stock state, as in how it came from Verizon / Motorola. Yes, your apps and contacts will be lost, but your contacts (in theory) should be connected to your gmail account and can be restored. Your purchased apps will be associated with your market account and should restore automatically when you run through the phone set up process after the SBF. No promises on the free apps; you may have to manually redownload them.
