I don't know all the details so I won't try to blame either one but it sucks that they ended up arguing with each other. ICS miui is probably my favorite droid x rom to date and I was looking forward to the updates. Hopefully I won't have to use the Droid X anymore after this Friday

This a little better. They opened the thread (again) on Rootzwiki: Ics Miui Test 1.11.9 [UNOFFICIAL] - RootzWiki - Page 229

That makes the rom equally functional to 10.21 and gets rid of any issues.

Updated CM libs (This has been needed for awhile)
Removing all DXC work (Were taking the Libs from 10.28 and then updating libs I know I can replace)
Rewriting the bootmenu so we still have it
Incorporating 720p fix
EGL fix (more battery and speed)
a few permission fixes in init
and including several scripts
Updated apps
Weekly builds with ICS? I can go for that.

ICS MIUI 4.0 does sound awesome. And for the 1 millionth time it looks like the Nexus will be delayed, so I will be looking for it eagerly.

i read most of the conversation between DXC and ACE, and well kinda not right what ace is doing, but to each his own.

I can't help but comment. I can see both sides of the argument. Ace inadvertantly stepped on some toes and perhaps should have been better about getting "permission". For DXC, he should have immediately taken things private and explained the situation as he saw it. Instead he publicly accused Ace of stealing from him and Ace was totally shocked having no idea what was being perceived by DXC. DXC seems to have his own philosophy and honor code that is a bit different from other devs. It could have been resolved a whole lot better and we all would have benefitted. Cest la vie.

from the way it seems half of this convo was private, until ace continued to publish workings from dxc then asking for donations, i only read the docx file dxc posted on twitter, if that was in a public forum o well, privately o well.

if its not on Android Forums, i will not know about it.

however it is considered trolling/kanging to take someones work and call it yours, and that is my understanding of it, and it seems that ace was doing exactly that. but others can determine what they think of the situation, because we all have free will to do as such. its a different situation and people can think what they want, as i will as well.

I could be wrong here, and please correct me if I am, but all this dev fighting over who's work belongs to who is kidna irrelivant considering Android source code isn't supposed to be modified to begin with.

Far be it for me to complain considering I benifit from our devs work also. But come on guys, most of us know who's work is who's. Please stop the bickering and lets get some awsome sauce put on our X,s

It was public in the sense that DXC and ace seemed to be hashing it out at each other in the ICS Miui Rootzwiki thread.

I dunno. To be honest, from what I can see, all of the developers are borrowing bits and pieces from one another. Unless it's a complete carbon copy (which, from what I understood, ICS wasn't, he just borrowed bits from DXC's version), I guess I don't understand the kang remarks. But I'm also finding it a bit irritating that DXC is doing the equivalent of taking his toys and going home, when it's not the users fault for his beef, it's ace. He's promised something for ages, and now he's going to withhold it. Obviously he owes us nothing, but it does seem a bit like a slap to those of us who have used his versions and have been rather (im)patiently waiting.

Ah well. I just have to wait longer for ace's version, I have my phone for a whole 'nother year; I have time.

dxc ran into problems with the 720p and he has been working on getting it fixed, then once the ICS builds came out, he moved to that to get us more for it.

That's the part I'm not clear about. Didn't DXC fix 720p and even had a zip update for CM7? As far as I'm concerned 1.10.21 is perfect other than lack of the 720p fix. It's smooth and super stable. Is there anyway I can just get the 720p fix on top of 1.10.21?

I don't understand this. Most people say 1.10.21 is all kinds of stable for them. I didn't think it was very stable on my X. Maybe it's just a case of my particular X isn't handling it as well as other X's?

But as far as MIUI goes, It's a dead project. All our devs have either moved on to other devices or to ICS. It's a shame too because MIUI has so much to offer....

Yes, and requires a data wipe if going from one to the other, which is why I haven't installed it.

I'm hesitant to try it; I'm on .21 still, and I don't know if it's MIUI or certain apps, but it's been a PITA. I wish I still had a copy of the previous version from .21 to reflash, because I was solid on that one. Better YouMail keeps "losing" its connection, and Launcher Pro Plus seems to excessively need to redraw every time I open Widget Locker (which I only switched back to because the MIUI lockscreens are a headache to figure out how to customize). Feeh. I'm sorely tempted to try CM just to see if it solves my problems.

Isn't .21 available from rom manager or from here?

Ace seems have pushed out the release indefinitely.

Based on my limited experience Ace's 1.11.9 ICS was only tiny little faster than DXC's 1.10.21 GB, but much more buggy. So I'm happy to stay on the GB track as long as it gets better.

I think the more important thing of this new release is that people are eager to put the dev drama behind and this release restored a sense of progress.

All this baby crap is enough to make ya wanna jump shit to a different device. I love my X but at the same time i'm not gonna like not having anything new to flash to it. I tried every Rom out and MIUI is at the top of my like list.

I'm sure others will pick up the torch for our X's and I know a true ICS port is in the works but man, all these games are just hurting us end users. Don't get me wrong here, I don't think our devs owe us anything. Without them we wouldn't have what we have now for our X's.

But at some point our devs also have to realize pitching a fit over "kanging" and the like is nothing more than childish. I understand where they are coming from. I wouldn't want someone else taking credit for my hard work either. But there comes a point, take Ace and DXC for instance, where it becomes crystal clear who did what and it's time to move on and continue your work. In my opinion I think the only thing Ace did wrong was assume he had DXC's permission.

I thought the whole point of this coding and porting was to benifit others and show off what you can do. Then take pride in your accomplishments. If you're looking for more than that then you're in the wrong place and just maybe you belong in a software engineering company getting paid for your work.

That's my small perspective on things. Don't jump on me for my words because at the end of the day they are just that, words. Remember kids, opinions are like **sholes, everybodies got one....

format system
format data
format cache
clear Dalvik cache
flash rom

Cougar214, I couldn't have said it better myself. Ace and DXC both burned themselves with the community by acting the way they did. Look back a few weeks and everyone was having a grand old time flashing MIUI and working out problems together(with the devs doing the heavy lifting of course). Will either of them have the same outpouring of respect and support going forward? Granted, they were providing ROMs to all for free, but it's akin to a movie director or book author. What good is it without the people out there to enjoy your work?

I think I'm going to bite the bullet, wipe data and install 1.12.9 (from ICS version)

Hopefully that's a path with periodic updates.

Your best option, and it's what I always do, is to wipe data then go into advanced and format system, data, cache, and dalvic. Then after the Rom is done flashing I once again wipe data. Is it overkill? maybe. But I never have any issues and my Roms ALWAYS boot without problems.

Going this route allows me to get right into my new Rom insted of having to deal with factory resseting because of a bootloop. I have also done this going to any version of 2nd init Rom without fail. As long as you're running a 2nd init Rom this method works every time. You already SBF'ed to get to, lets say CM7. Why would you have to SBF again just to switch 2nd init Roms? I never did and I never have problems flashing a different 2nd init Rom.

How far off is a decent working version of ICS? Sorry, haven't been on much lately.

A very buggy build was posted for the Nook Color by fat tire, one of the CyanogenMod devs. It had no sound or 2d/3d acceleration.

Maybe in January we'll some stable builds.

(I use the term "stable" loosely. )

I'm still sucking on that bullet and haven't bit it yet.

Had the company Christmas party last night and I'll be out of town this afternoon. So maybe tonight.

I'm downloading it now in Rom Manager. If it actually downloads; the last time I tried to download anything in RM, it never finished, and I had to get it from my computer. We'll see how this goes....

After install, Rom Manager is still insisting I'm on 1.10.21, and tells me there's an update. Little weird. Maybe because I downloaded it through RM, but didn't install it there? I rebooted and went into recovery to upload the zip.

Either I'm missing something or my ROM Manager isn't quite right... Where is MIUI suppose to be in the ROM list? I'm not seeing it.

I have the paid version and I see MIUI.us in the "free" section.

CM nightlies and RevNumbers are premium downloads.

Since ICS Miui was build from GB Miui code, RM gets them confused and wants to update your ICS version with the GB version, which would probably result in a bootloop. Just say "no".

Hmm. I have the paid version too, and no MIUI.us. For some reason, mine doesn't differentiate between premium and free in the ROM list. I guess I'll download it manually for now.

Are you in the US?

I'm running Rom Manager 4.8.0.7

Under Check for ROM updates, it says, "Current ROM:MIUIUS-1.11.9-EN-SHADOW"

Yes, I'm in the US. I just recently started down the ROM path, and have been running CM7. I'm currently setting up Liberty 3v2 to try out, and I haven't ran MIUI at all. No biggie if I have to download it manually, but didn't know if this was a common issue.

EDIT: CM revnumbers and nightlies doesn't show up either. I do have ROMtoolbox installed too. could these be conflicting with each other? CM7 stuff shows up in Romtoolbox but not Rom manager...

I have both apps.

Maybe you need to tap the top button, choose 2ndinit (if you're running a 2nd init rom) or DroidX (if that applies), then see if you get the correct rom.

I show recovery 5.0.2.0.

That worked. After I mess with Liberty for a while and get it setup the way I want it, I'll check out MIUI.

Thanks for the help.

On mine it always showed MIUI at the bottom of the page of available Roms. As for CM7 not showing up, it does that to me from time to time also. I think it's just a glitch in the app. I just back out of RM and go into Rom d/l again and they show up.

I just flashed back to CM7. Was having to many bugs on ICS. I always had to wipe my davlik cache because my phone would be so slow and lag so much I couldn't use it. I have the updated GB version but i dont know if its worth it to go threw all the trouble to load it.

The MIUI 1.12.9 runs very nice actually. I was running it for 3 days and had zero issues with it. It is, on my phone anyway, fast, smooth, and stable.
