Default Help a noob out?

I want to root my DX and put Liberty Rom on it. Where to begin? I have 2.3.3 .605 official update.

If you dont want to help me just redirect me with the correct rooting thread. Thanks.

Pete's Motorola Root Tools v1.06 + motorola drivers (on your computer), rom manager (app on phone), liberty 3 v2.0 .zip on root of SD card (just on there, not in a file). Root phone using pete's, its very simple if you get stuck at bootloader unplug the phone from the computer during reboots. Once rooted use rom manager to install latest CWM recovery (helps if you do it multiple times), reboot into recovery, MAKE NANDROID BACKUP, wipe data/dalvik/cache partitions multiple times, flash .zip from SD card.

That's the condensed version. If you are computer savvy at all you should be able to figure out most of the process on your own... using the stickies of course. If you get stuck, we're here.

QUESTION: I'm on a 2 init and want to know how to go from 2init(MIUI) to a GB based Rom(Liberty3/Vortex)?? I heard you can no longer use bootstrap on a 2init, or can you??

On 2nd init roms, never use DX or D2 bootstrap. Instead, you can get to recovery through the power menu. Hold down the power button as if you're powering off and select reboot, then recovery. From there you go through the same process to flash any ROM (wipe data, cache, all that jazz).

Also, just to err on the side of caution, it isn't a bad idea to have either the 602 or 605 sbf files handy just in case something goes wrong. Either having the sbf files to flash through RSDLite or the very convenient bootable Linux sbf discs. Sbf files are our safety nets.
