Default Slooow, will rooting increase speed?

I have a Dx with gingerbread, but it's awfully slow where I am now in Florida. And when I go back to the wilds of PA it will even be slower! I'm happy with my phone otherwise and not too happy about fooling around with the innards. Having said that, I want to know if I can increase my speeds with a simple rooting....not too much, just enough??

Are you saying you have a Droid X? If so I'll get this moved over to that phone's forum so you can get the help you need.

the benefits to rooting are custom roms, which will make your phone run faster, as well as overclocking the phone.

so yes, with rooting, you can make your phone run faster

Don't forget freezing background processes that you don't want...

Speaking of which, is there any sort of list of background processes that can safely be frozen?

Well to answer your OG question, no, rooting alone does not increase your phone speed. As VS pointed, rooting will allow you to overclock/undervolt and flash custom Roms. Custom Roms that have most, if not all, the bloat removed and also built in scripts to increase speed. Depending on the Rom you flash of course.

I would recommend The Liberty Rom or the Apex Rom. They are the fastest 1st init Roms out to date. 2nd init Roms are fast but also at the expense of battery life. But battery life is pretty much a 50/50 split, some people report great battery life and others report poor battery life. It's pretty much a hardware thing as all Droids are not created equal.

Get your phone rooted, brush up on flashing custom Roms, and just have some fun with it man.
