Ordered mine over the phone July 22. Havent heard anything yet (still early but im impatient since my current phone isn't working correctly). Maybe i'll get my shipment notify tomorrow.
Just got my shipping notification via email. Shipped out today thr 25th, will receive it the 28th by 4:30. Ordered in store the 20th. The rep I talked to yesterday was somewhat misinformed with how I'd receive my tracking number, as he said it would be a text message. Oh well, at least I know it's on its way!
We ordered two on 7/18 and received our shipping notification today!!! Wasn't supposed to ship until the 27th. Go Verizon!

Got my tracking email today (as posted earlier) just checked and its showing up in fedex now even though it wasnt earlier. Its in PA with no delivery date set (motorola has a plant in PA i believe, if you search motorola PA in google maps youll see that they have something there). I feel better now knowing that its in fed ex's hands officially

Hello all. I'm about to be new to the android family, as I just ordered my X on the 24th, around 2pm. I got this message about an hour later:
Order Status: Your order has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability and shipping method. You will receive shipment notification and tracking details via email.
So I can assume, I may have beaten the 8/3 shipping date, and hopefully I'll get mine this week. I am in SERIOUS need of replacing my Samsung Omnia. I hate windows mobile with a passion. I cannot wait for the X to get here. My dad has a droid, my other brother as well, and yet another brother has the Incredible. Can't wait to show off my X.
Edit: It should be noted when I purchased it, the website did NOT yet show the new 8/3 date stamp on the phone's page. It showed up a couple hours later. At least here in central time where I live.

I ordered mine 1 day before you and just now got it today. I would assume that you should get your email very soon! Did you order online or in the store? Also, I think that regions of the US has to do with when you get the phone.

i hope by 2m bc im going away thursday and not coming back till 8/3. i ordered online and im on long island. the rep i talked to on the phone saaid the absoulute latest its gonna ship would be 2m and i have overnight shipping so tht meam ill have it before ill go away!!
Ordered on 15th, billed today 26th, expected ship date Aug 7th. I called them and apparently they forgot about me, I had to ask them to bill me. IDK what they were thinking when i emailed them on like the 18th, I got a lame "A letter with a more detailed explanation will be mailed to you" and was never emailed again after that.

I just called to talk to Verizon. The girl I talked to said pretty much any order after the 17th or 18th, won't be shipped until the 3rd. This sucks. I ordered on the 24th. I hope they're just saying a further date, so when it shows up early, everybody is happy.
I ordered online the 23rd and have not received any email yet. Called cs just now and was told they show the order processed but no tracking information yet. I'm happy for folks receiving their's in just a couple of days after processing but it's getting pretty frustrating just waiting and not even able to get a shipping date. I sure hope this phone is worth it.
I received my droid.... right after i got off the phone with my bf at 3 who was checking to see if it came... fed ex drives up.... i was wicked excited!

I should note I called CS and asked about my phone on tuesday, the 27th, and surprise, the next day i get shipping info. Light a fire under their butts if you havent gotten info yet. Just call. And also remember, depending on where you live, that nearest distribution center may have more or less stock compared to those getting their phone early. I also really do think Verizon is claiming onger wait times to make themselves look good when they "Deliver early".
I've lurked enough, I guess I should join in the 'fun'.
I ordered at 12:22pm PST on 7/15, they delayed processing until 5:07pm PST (37 min too late to get it 7/16!). I live about 1.5 hours from Ontario, CA, so tried to get them to let me pick it up 7/16 (no dice). Got our Droid Xs on Monday, 7/19 and mine had the vertical line screen issues (husband's is fine!). Called them that day, had to mail it back and they wouldn't let me order a replacement until they processed my return - Not acceptable, IMO. Got the usual run-around with CSRs giving inconsistent information. E-mailed the Regional Pres of So Cal and then the Director of CS and, after a week of BS, they've given me 2 free cases of our choice (ordered the Body Glove and the leather w/kickstand - neither of which would we have likely bothered with for $30 & $25) and $50 credited. And they finally put in a damn order for me on Monday for my replacement.
The Director's exec assistant told me we should get the cases Friday (7/30) and that I should have my phone by 8/5.
My husband (primary on the account) received a shipping notification an hour after the exec assistant texted me to confirm the case order that has priority overnight by 10:30am shipping and that I'll need to sign for. It's 2.0lbs and coming from Ontario.
Anybody order just a couple of cases or some relatively cheap accessories and need to sign for it?? I thought it had to cost (retail) over $500 to require a sig...
I should add, finding e-mails of execs is pretty easy. All their e-mails seem to be firstname.lastname@verizonwireless.com and all of the execs' names are on VZW's site.

To test his theory, I called Verizon customer service today to ask if they had any information on my expected ship date. They indicated it would be 8/3 as the web site had said. I said thanks and that was it. About 30 min after I hung up with them I got an email saying it had been shipped.
Someone else needs to try this and see if they get the same results. There seems to be a trigger that puts a priority on orders when an inquiry is made to customer service.

You may be right. I'm just speculating based upon my experience as it did seem a little coincidental.
I do work in information systems and business intelligence, though, and know that all kinds of business rules are commonly programmed into production systems that are completely transparent to the users/processors.

No, I didn't program the system. But I can tell you it's not nearly as advanced as it should be. But at the same time it's still rather simple to understand (for those that actually process the orders anyway).
Customer Service is just simply sticking to their boilerplate script of orders placed on the 25th will ship by Aug 3rd.

I originally order on the 15th, they screwed up and didnt process the order until the 21st. I had been told up to that point that the phone would ship on or before the 23rd, when I heard they screwed up I was pissed and cancelled the order. Later that day (the 23rd) I reordered the phone, I called back a few days ago to confirm that the order was processed and it had been. I was promised the "by 8/3" shipping window. The online status will tell you NOTHING until it has actually shipped, DONT bother. I received two emails yesterday, 1) stating that my order had processed and been shipped, 2) the actual shipping info with tracking. These email were received about 10 minutes apart. I'm in Philly and the phone is shipping from West Chester,PA which I thought was weird. Hope this helps! Good luck to all, its tough being patient

I need to finally update this. I ordered my phone online on saturday, the 24th at around 3pm, I got my order has been processed later that day, and called to find out what was up the following tuesday. The next day, wednesday, the 28th, I got my shipping info, and recieved my DROID X on friday, july 30th at 5pm.
(I didn't know about the one day shipping). This phone is amazing. Even with the bloatware, this is the fastest phone i have ever played with. When Froyo comes out, I'm rooting, and removing bloatware. This Phone SCREAMS. My first download tests put it at 2.48 mb download, later i got up to 3.2!!
I love droid. Now If I can just get my wife to convert from her blackberry.......
