I use ACT 1 and Rockplayer. Free is all you need.

I tried the free Act1 and it would only play 20 seconds of video at a time, so I just coughed up the 2.49 for the paid version with the bonus of not having to watch ads with my movies.

Do you guys have to convert the movies to fit the X or do you just throw the avi movie on the memory card and just play it?

just throw avi movies on.

When you go to transfer them it will tell you it is incompatible with the droid but just tell it to transfer anyway.

same with mp3 songs.
