Confused restore the "enable location" message in Google Maps

Hi fellow Android owners,

I use a Droid X, goes without saying, LOVE IT. I have used almost every feature on it, GPS especially.

Last night, when I was trying to look up something on Google Maps app, I clicked the "dont show this message again" check box and clicked "skip" when it shows the "please enable a my location source in settings" dialog when all location services are turned off.

I generally keep the location services off unless needed. Unless I need to use maps for navigation, I just click "skip" and proceed. And when I need to turn on the location services, I click the other button and it takes me to the right settings screen right away.

Now that I lost the reminder dialog, I need to quit maps, go to settings, click on location and enable GPS etc. No matter where I checked I was unable to get it to prompt me to turn on the location sources when I start the maps app.

Does anyone over here know how to get the maps app to prompt me to turn on the location settings whenever I open it? Or the other thing that will help is to be able to jump directly to the locations settings screen from the maps app.

thanks a ton!

I wonder if the prompt comes back when you update the app.

How do I reinstall it? Market only shows uninstall updates and open. No reinstall or uninstall.

Ok, found a solution. Just go in to "manage application" in settings, click maps and then click on "clear data". That is it. The application will be reset and will behave as if it were installed afresh.

I don't know how to mark thread answered and close it.
