Angry Not receiving Gmail notifications via email client

So I have my Gmail account set up to come in via the phone's stock Email client (versus using the gmail app) and last week I got some validation error that said my password was wrong. I fixed that by resetting everything. Over the weekend however, I am no longer getting my emails pushed to the phone. I've deleted the account, re-added it, changed the settings, timing and push versus fetch, but no dice. For now, I'm back to using the gmail app, but I like the Email client better.

Any ideas on what the problem may be or a solution?

Posting here because my roommate has a similar problem with his DX, except he is using Gmail, and is not receiving emails..

He has to manually go in through settings sync gmail every time, and it is only good for that one time.. if another email comes in, he has go through the process all over again...

Any info on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Same problem as pengwinn's roommate. Only thing I found that works is LauncherPro's new gmail widget, but I don't really like LauncherPro so I go rid of it.

Ok, so I think I found out how to fix both issues. For me, right around the same time as my email issue, I stopped getting phone calls. I didn't realize it as I don't get a lot of calls anyway. I went on a business trip and every time someone called me, they said it went right to my VM. I rebooted, did a battery pull...nothing worked. So I called VZW tech support and they had to reset something on their end. I would get texts, VM notifications, app updates, etc, but no email notifs or calls. All of a sudden, after this reset, it all worked again as usual.

As for the gmail notices, you need to turn on the data sync feature. I switched to gmail after my hotmail account stopped working, and the only way to get gmails pushed was to keep the data sync option on 24/7.

Place the "Power Control" widget on your homescreen, and turn on the one second from the right. (looks like two arrows going in a circle). You can use several other toggle switches as well (I use SwitchPro) but I am not sure where it is in the actual phone settings. I think you can delete the widget once you have the sync turned on.

He said that seems to have worked, he also said he can't believe he over looked that, he already had the power widget on one of his screens lol.

Thanks from the roomie!

If you ask me, that is a stupid trick to have to know about. I think I found out about it somewhere on these forums, but you would think they would either tell you or it would turn on automatically. Glad it worked out for all parties involved.
