How do you Limit the # of Emails?

I have a Droid X and I cannot find any settings that limit the number of emails that are stored on my phone. As a result i have 7 months of emails that slow down my phone. Is there any way to limit this?

What email app are you using? Stock, or something else?

I'm using the stock program right off the phone. I've tried the Yahoo app but it's buggy as can be.

Hm. I don't generally use the stock app, but I set up an account for testing purposes and didn't see a way to limit the amount of messages. I assume you're not using a pop account. Maybe if you put the mail into folders stock will only sync with the inbox? Maybe the issue is that the messages aren't being marked as read?

FWIW, I've been using K-9 Mail for months and vastly prefer it over stock.
