Observations using Ti Backup w/ Launcher Pro & Google Music
So, just wanted to throw this out there for interests sake:
I use Titanium Backup. A lot. Makes switching ROMs (or, as demonstrated yesterday, switching phones) super easy. Just back up apps, then restore them and you keep all of your saved data.
I have experienced two problems, though.
- Google Music. So, if you listen to your music only in the cloud, you're fine. But I don't. I cache a whole lot of my music. Actually, I use Google Music almost like a sync service, cache what I'm listening to a lot, when I'm done, uncache it and cache something else. Nice.
However, this is a problem for Titanium Backup. It tries to back up my many gigabytes of saved music, presumably because GM saves it as part of its app data. Oops. So I skip that. Unfortunately, GM doesn't save its cache when you re-install it. So you have to re-cache all of the music you want. Not a huge deal because the download is super fast but still, just throwing that out there.
- Launcher Pro. I haven't had a lot of problems moving LP around, but it wasn't quite right when I moved it to Gingerbread. I didn't really worry about it because it worked okay and I figured it was an artifact of it not being optimized totally for Gingerbread. The only problems were at boot time anyway, and I don't reboot much.
Holy crap was I wrong. It was acting super flaky on this new phone, so I uninstalled and reinstalled, and BAM. Everything is fast and slick again.
So... just throwing out some observations for those that like Ti Backup as much as I do. Hope it helps someone.
