Default Download is in Progress. Do not Disconnect Cable. HELP** Optimus Elite

I recently rooted my optimus elite and downloaded rom manager. Of course I went to back-up my current rom and it went to a screen with the LG logo and "Download is in progress. Do not disconnect cable." How do I fix this and get back to my phone??? Please Help!!

Sigh.. did you come to this forum before you did this? NEVER use ROM Manager if it doesn't support your phone, and always do research about the phone before doing ANYTHING that requires superuser permissions. Just to make that clear..

Go to this link to unbrick your phone if it doesn't boot back up after a battery pull. Remember.. don't use ROM Manager if it doesn't support your phone.

I'm gonna contact Rom Managers developer about his application and have it edited for special permissions making his shitty app actually CHECK the phone that's being used and exit the app if unsupported. Like Mobile Odin.

Make sure you tell him that it is bricking peoples' phones after they blatantly lie to his program about what phone they have.

Throw it in the trash and get that $9.99 Tracphone from Walmart.
At least then you won't need to read directions.

The best you can do is return it for a new one and act dumb. As long as you had some type of 30 day guarantee or insurance with the place you bought it from, say you don't know what happened and it won't do anything.

If the phone will go into download mode your device can be saved. I think ting is using the sprint version firmware for the elite

So you never installed cwm manually I assume then? You could always try and see if it's recognized by ADB and possibly flash CWM to it, and then install a stock Sprint Rom found here somewhere.

I will help you as much as I can. I'm online a few times a day. You gotta try some more options tho. Can you get into recovery mode? Turn off phone with battery pull, and then turn it on and hold the power button and the volume down button til recovery pops up. Also, see if ADB can recognize the phone whether in Download Mode or in Recovery if you can access it. Another thing for you btw; If you ever get a new android phone, do as much research on it first before you do anything and make sure other ppl have had success doing what you wanna do with your phone. Nothing is really dangerous if you have a backup but Rom Manager isn't updated much anymore with newer phones so it only works for older phones mostly and it's only a select few that it works for. And as for you waiting for the 90 day warranty; You lose warranty by rooting yes. If you crack your screen, you can still go back to stock by finding a unroot program somewhere. Never used one personally. (Just take better care of your phone! Lol) As long as your on the stock rom and you revert any changes you made in rooting like custom icons or w/e and then unroot, your warranty should be back that I know of. :] in order for us to help you tho we need more information about what recognizes the device and whether you have all the drivers installed correctly. That could be why the program doesn't recognize your device.

To clarify all of your questions...I am going to post a video to youtube, I will try to go into recovery mode and you guys can see what is happening with the phone as it turns on. Thanks for helping!!

@ HaTrEd360

I have tried recovery mode and cannot get the phone to go into that mode. It only will go into download mode and I can get it reconized by odin and LGNPST/QPST but all of them stall at the "connecting to phone". My guess is that the phone is not getting connected to but I know for sure that the phone can go into download mode. (I think lol)

I have these bin files:
LS696ZV9_LS696ZV9_01.S9_01.P21083_AP.bin

And these .dll files:

LS696_20120323_LGFLASHv1350.dll

I also have tried to use LGFlashTool with these two files and no luck.

Would you like screen records of my attempts with each of these programs??

Thanks

Try this: plug the USB into your computer, then hold down the volume down button, and while you're holding it down, plug in the USB to the phone. This is the correct way to get into download mode, and then try the tutorials to unbrick in download mode.

I thought you hold both volume up and down buttons to get into download mode.

You might not want to spend all your time making youtube videos. I think the phone doesnt charge while it is in download mode. I wouldn't want to try and flash it with download mode and an almost dead battery.

I had it plugged into the charger and let it go for 12 hours so I think it still charges.

It won't charge in Download Mode but it also wont let the phone die if it's plugged in. I had it plugged in and my battery wasn't even in the phone and it flashed fine haha. Well since your stuck, have you tried making damn sure that your drivers are installed correctly? And do you actually go into download mode before you plug it in? You need to keep it unplugged until it's instructed to plug it in, and you need to be powered off completely, hold both volume buttons, then connect the usb to your phone. (As long as its already connected to your computer first.)

Oh! One more thing; Do you have Diag Mode enabled on the phone? And do you have your MSL? Annnnddd have you checked the com ports in Device Manager for your phone whrn plugged into the computer? You need to have only that one port for your phone in there for QPST to work. Atleast that's what did it for my phone I believe. I'm not a pro ag any of this, nor do I develop but I do enjoy helping whenever I can.

His problem is that the programs all freeze up when trying to connect to the phone. Not much team viewer can really be useful for on instructions. The guy is smart, so I believe he knows what to do, it just can't connect to his phone. I'm thinking driver issue. He should try to reinstall all of them after uninstalling them.

Okay Guys! I will install TeamViewer, send me your stuff so we can get that set up. On the subject of MSL, I do not have it I have the ESN. I am also using the LG United Driver. Is that the correct driver? On several different programs including the LG Mobile Update tool, the process stops when it tries to connect to the phone. Here is a video of me trying with odin. I do not believe I have DIAG mode, how do I enable it/what is it? I hope that TeamViewer will help, can it do mikes? Do you guys have any other questions about my setup? Thanks so much for helping!!

If that's the only driver your using then you are screwed. Here is a download link for all 3 drivers. Uninstall the one you have now. LGVM696.zip
download that and open the zip. Those are the 3 drivers you need to install.

I want to suggest that people new to rooting and flashing roms who want to experiment get a cheap and rootable wifi tablet. You have much less risk of permanent bricking and don't have to worry losing connectivity to a provider because you wipe out the nvram. I have had lots of fun with netbooks and tablets that are selling for under $60 online.
