It's an .exe file that, in conjunction with other files, allows you to return your phone to 100% stock. It's a pain to copy/paste links from the AF app, but if you check on xda you can find the link for it (or I can provide it when I get home from work).

Okay... i've started a thread for NOOB's like me that want to root and change ROMS but also want to know how to go back to stock. If possible do you think you could provide easy to understand directions...?

I've found these directions but the link here to Odin is inactive... any elaboration on what this guy did would be awesome. [How To] Return to Stock / Fix Bricked Epic - xda-developers

@Kelmar... please do put the link to Odin for the Epic. I have been searching and searching... found a few but the links don't work. Your help is appreciated.

http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip

That's the latest version of odin. You will still need to download the files for last OFFICIAL release of DI18 HERE and follow the directions at this LINK to return to 100% stock.

Might I recommend instead, flashing a stock ROM that would enable you to keep root access?

I downloaded the latest Odin... then tried to drag it to my SD card but it says that it is write protected and can't perform the function. Any advice?

EDIT: I figured out how to remove the write protection... it's the lock slider on the adapter to the SD Card.

Rooted, flashed Baked Snack 1.6, now how do I return to stock?

Check post 6

That will take you back to 100% stock, unrooted, nothing on phone goodness.

If I was to flash a version of 2.2 on my phone, would this also take back the kernel?

That is where I found the dead link. Every post leads back to that same link. That's why I'm asking if somebody has a mirror or could send the zip to me

Odin: Download Odin3_v1.61andepic.pit.zip, upload your files and earn money.

Froyo:http://www.easy-share.com/1914214635/froyo.zip

Preciate it, I'll do the froyo one at work since it looks like it might take a little time...price we pay for free stuff!

Thanks again. Before I starting rooting and adding roms I want to make sure I can get it back to stock.

Default can someone post a stock epic froyo ROM and odin?

I am fairly new to this process. I have a rooted Samsung Epic. I'm unable to upgrade to Gingerbread until I get back to stock.

It's my understanding that the easiest way to accomplish this is to use an application called Odin. It's not clear to me if I also need a stock ROM to use in conjuction with Odin.

Will someone please post a functional link to the latest Odin with a stock froyo Epic ROM along with simple directions?

Thanks.
