Cry Please help!!!!!! rooting problem, i just want it to work now.

i hate to make this wordy but i just want to be dtailed. feel free to not look at the links and just read the story part. so earlier today my room mate was trying to show me how to get rid of all the sprint apps and other crapware that came with the phone. he showed me this website:

PowerCram: How To Remove City ID (and other crapware) From Droid X (and other Android phones)

i followed all the steps and down (I also downloaded and tried many diffrent websites with the same file download for z4root) but i only managed to get the z4root program to install. when i tried permanently rooting it (multiple times) it would either close out and freeze up my phone altogether or turn up just a white screen. so i pulled the battery out, restarted it and tried again many times. i even tried doing it slowly just in case. but i just got to a whole lot of nowhere. so after many many google searches on what to do about this somewhere i heard about this think called clockwork. first i uninstalled superuser, z4root, and titanium backup. i then followed this guys instructions down to the very last word:

when it was all said and done i found my self feeling the urge to post this on his video: "ok right after i installed this it rebooted, but for the past idk 10 minutes its been stuck on the start up "samsung" screen. JESUS CHRIST!!!!!! wtf did i do?"

Needless to say i was shitting bricks thinking my phone is now completely wiped, i cant get out of the clockwork menu, i dont think my warranty covers this, and im assuming whatever else goes through someones mind when this kinda thing happens. so then i found this forum by this kid who put this up:

(epic 4g)HELP!! PHONE WONT BOOT AFTER INSTALLING CLOCKWORKMOD 3.0

which, what i got out of it, basically said to install odin. searching youtube i thought it was funny the same guy who showed me clockwork is also going to show me how to do odin...

so i searched around and found odin 3 just like the guy had then his link to the dk28 file was down so i found this one:

Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

i got on the download screen with a yellow triangle and tried the first dk28 file i found in odin several times as the guy suggested and after getting this list on my phone:

<ID:0/006> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> MD5 hash value is invalid
<OSM> SPH-D700-DK28-8Gb-REL.tar.md5 is invalid.
<OSM> End...

i tried to find another dk28 file and im downloading it now. i really, really, dont want to walk into the sprint store with my tail between my legs. am i missing something? what am i doing wrong? all i want is my phone back i dont care if i have sprint apps anymore, PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Go here man: http://androidforums.com/epic-4g-tips-tricks/310848-how-videos-odin-root-flash-rom-update-ec05.html

After your filesystem converts you HAVE to flash a rom. If you get stuck on the samsung screen rewipe data, cache, and dalvik, and reflash the rom.

I am not sure about that

after I did the EXT4 file system change I didnt install a ROM for almost a week - I did a quadrant score and got 1500ish (1033 before) but I didnt install a rom after rooting and EXT4 with CWM3

I used the odin method that was root/EXT4/EB13 all in one package and then I installed the midnight rom latter

Agreed. You do not have to flash a rom. I have ran it stock for a bit myself. See this link from the dev of ext4

I hope this clears things up for people:-)
