I am currently running EC05 (2.2) and am rooted. I have been having some problems with my phone and have thought about doing a hard reset and going to EC05 without root. The only reason I rooted was to backup my apps with data. But now, not sure how big of a deal that is.

If I follow the steps below, will that put me on EC05 without root?

I dont know if it will work or not. there is a note on the website that says it will only work if you are running a previous version of android (2.1). since you are already on EC05 i would assume it wont work for you.

Have you considered giving odin a try? there is a .tar file that will do exactly what you want done.
